I'm perfectly happy with the original leather ones, and don't really see the need to change. The Librands ones look a bit "home made" to me (I realise they are not) and the cost is quite high too. Each to his/her own, of course, and if you like them, go for it! I don't think there are any other alternatives out there.

Mine were on the car when she ensnared me.
I have"tightened" them up as they were not brilliant at keeping the door open on slight slopes.
Now better and no shin bumping except on quite steep slopes.
I don't notice them now, my 4/4 had leather straps and as it was a 1992 I was reluctant to " modify " fitting them due to the lack of mounting places and resorting to woods crews/ mounting plate etc.
I am keeping an eye on the drivers door hinges though as there are signs of slight wear. It's ok at moment so no work needed yet.
Maybe a job for the winter.

Have them fitted and they do what they are supposed to do. There is a drawback for drivers of a LHD car. The device interferes with my knee (left leg most of the time idle off course).I guess RHD drivers are less bothered.
Kind regards,
BerR

I'd not thought of that, but you are quite correct, it could be annoying.
I always thought that LHD Cars should reverse the pedal layout.

I've still got the leather straps and have contemplated the Librands stays for a while now, mainly to help SWMBO getting out (long legs!). However, I like the leather straps and have concerns about getting the SS stays flush to the door card when it is closed.

So, I've decided to stick with the leather straps and agreed to help SWMBO exiting the car in that slightly old fashioned and chivalrous way... hold the door for her wink
