Just back from me hols in France...felt like I was driving a tanker on the way home with all that wine!!

To the question...SWMBO is complaining of the draught during inclemant days (most days!!) does anybody have any experience with using the Wintrimmer device that used to come from USA?

Got the chance of one locally.

Judging by the lack of response, obviously nobody likes to admit that the buffetting of the ears does get a little uncomfortable on longer runs

But just to report to anybody interested, I bought this to give it a try and with the side screens on, it really works, cutting 90% of the back draught and doesn't look too unsightly

to be honest, don't find it a problem - in the winter I use a 'jeep' cap which rolls down at the back, and a jacket with a big furry collar, and quite like the breeze in the summer - but thanks for the feedback.

I've never had buffeting on the ears; however, I will admit to brain-frazzle due to wind buffeted hair!

I won't be able to explain this properly (and will sound crazier than normal ) but after driving the Aero for 1.5 hours on the motorway, top down, (and being quite tall) my head sitting slightly proud of the front screen, I stopped the car to find my head felt quite 'fuzzy'.

It was like the wind had whipped my hair so much that my brain was buffeted! I know it sounds crazy but I can't explain it better than wind rattled brain/fuzzy feeling.

Now I wish I hadn't tried to explain this phenomenon

As the radio in a Roadster above 40mph is uesless I use an iPod and in cool weather wear a sheepskin flying helemet over the top of a baseball cap

As driving a Morgan with the top down in cold weather grants automatic entry to the 'mad' crowd as determined by most folks the flying helmet helps to confirm that view. the upside is its is VERY warm with the back down

I know exactly what you mean ! Great description - I have brain-frazzle on most journeys, but tend to use earplugs all the time to drown out wind-noise/tyre-noise and my very loud exhaust. In the winter, I drive with Elmer Fudd hunting cap with woolly ear-muffs and so am nice and cosy and don't care what an idiot I look like.

In the summer (ha !) I just have ear-plugs and shamefully admit to quite liking brain-frazzle ! However I suspect if SWMBO knew of this windtrimmer she'd force me to buy one and I object enough as it is to fitting the side-screens when she's in the car - I much prefer the full-on open sided experience even if it does get a little breezy ...

But it's good to know that it actually works - I can't say that the wind-deflectors fitted to the side of my windscreen do very much though ...

Matthew, at least it isn't just me!

As this device is no longer in production, maybe we should rename it the 'SWMBO device'. I too prefer the more open cockpit, I too have the 'alternative' boys exhaust tail pipe, I too have an assortment of rather fetching head gear.....BUT...it's an easier life if 'erinddors' is happy!!

I emailed "Windtrimmer" about 9 months ago requesting the cost of shipping one to the UK. After several tries and no reply I gave up, even though he was still advertising in Miscellany.

However it did look easy enough to make, perhaps 3 or 4mm acrylic sheet and some velcro?

Now that Nick has one in his possession, perhaps he would be kind enough to take some photos and make measurements?
