I have the same vibration or shimmy at anything over 60 and depending on the road surface below that. You might want to check the tightness of the bolts holding the suspension cross head to the chassis, other suspension bolts etc. Several of mine needed tightening.

The Suplex kit must be fitted exactly as in the instructions. It is not difficult, just that the instructions have to be read and understood. I can well believe that an experienced mechanic may think he can do it without reading them but he would be risking getting it wrong. I had to readjust mine after getting it home.

The system does reduce the loads on the stub axle which will lighten the steering, this could be the cause of a slight shimmy because of a reduced damping effect. It would be more noticable on early models that have less castor.

In trying to improve the steering all bolts have been tightened and wheel balance/alignment checked. Also, new adjustable AVO shocks have been fitted at the front in lieu of Bilstein. This has given a marginal improvement.

The kit was fitted by an expert mechanic as you suggest Peter.

Incidentally, the steering damper did not irradiate the vibration at the steering wheel. This comes in at about 50 mph. It's not what I would call shimmy and all Morgans vibrate a little I guess.

I will try reducing the tyre pressures to say 20psi to see if this will increase the loading on the steering.

Bob.

Thanks for all the responses, all very interesting. However, does anyone have any specific ideas on the Aero models?

Adjustable dampers and check the front end is bolted up correctly and set up.... Sounds simple but we've seen some in tragic condition.
