The speed cameras in the UK don't give any flexibility. I have been done twice for being just over the limit. Sure the fine was not so big but it was annoying as on both occasions I was being quite careful. My wife was done for 74 mph in Cumbria. £60.

I disagree completely with the 20 mph speed limit near schools. Do parents not now teach children road safety? If it is a primary school, the children should be accompanied on the pavement and if it is a secondary school the children should be aware of the dangers. Bring back 30 mph in built-up areas.
PS What happened to the talked about 80 mph on motorways. Idiots kill, not speed. Rant over. I agree 100% In Australia around all schools on a school day in the morning and afternoon it is 40 kmph. This is strictly enforced. Works well.

Except on a main road into the city where they have fenced both sides of the road to stop the little Bs running into the traffic. With 6 lanes of peak hour traffic and the impossibility of any little idiot running into the road what is the point of posting a 40 limit. Actually the main offenders are parents driving their children to school instead of making them walk or take public transport. I could go on at great lengths about the failings in child education but I will stop here. Rant over
