The new ARV6 at Donnington

Don't get too excited.....no photos of the car racing, I'd not packed my Canon! But these photos of the car in the pits should give an idea of the main features.

I think that I recognised Guenter lurking in the pits with a brace of Canons taking photos so hopefully he got access trackside and got some good shots to his usual high standard.

Could you please tell me if the headlights are "plug and play" or do you have to cut in to the wiring ?

The headlamp is plug and play but the side light needs a bit of cut and join as the LED bit has a pair of bare wires so you have to cut the wire to the sidelight connector.

I used proper connectors so I could always re-fit the old headlamp.

Many thanks - have just ordered a pair. I will follow your advice and use Scotch Lock connectors for the sidelight wiring.

I have just fitted these lights to my Plus 8. I think that the style suits the car and the LED's on their own are fairly bright. However, I have just noticed a "Bulb failure" warning on the dash display. I believe this may be because I removed the original sidelight bulbs from their holders (taping them up as per a previous post) before "splicing in" the DRL wires to the sidelight wires using scotchlock connectors. Any advice to eliminate the bulb failure message would be gratefully received.

Can you refit the original bulb and tape it out of harms way behind the headlamp? Away from any surface that might melt.

Just a thought - would the "fault" correct itself if you disconnected the battery and then reconnected it?

Or wired a resistor across the bulb holder? Or does it sense continuity...in which case solder a wire?

iIRC, you have a 2013 'new' Plus 8 and some of those posting replies may not recall this. The BMW Can-bus wiring loom of the Aero cars may require a Can-bus compatible LED bulb (whereas the trad Plus 8 obviously wouldn't). Did you get Can-bus compatible LED bulbs which are designed to 'mimic' the resistance of the filament bulbs? A quick google search on the serial # of what you bought will clarify.

Thank you all for your advice. Unfortunately disconnecting and re-connecting the battery did not work. Have re-fitted the original side-light bulbs and taped them behind the headlamp as Dave suggested and the error message has disappeared.
