To all owners of the new plus 4 GDI MY 2014,

I got yesterday the information that there must be a general problem with the new speedometer from VDO. With the change to VDO in the new +4 GDI the following problem could appear.

The odometer function in the new VDO speedometer stops counting above higher speed. This results also in a total wrong AVR because it calculates the gas consumption from the wrong odometer counting.

Could we try to collect all informations in this thread so that we get an overview how many are affected and what is the solution from the factory. I will make the first one.

Hope to get mine in September and will let you know whether I have the same issue

Due to the information from the factory it is a well known problem with the kph speedos for LHD cars. The factory will sent via my UK dealer a new speedo within the next weeks and then the problem should be solved. Due to the information from my UK dealer it is a software problem of the new VDO speedo.

( Duing my last trip on the German Autobahn I figured out that the speedo counts exactly until 90 km/h and stops counting with higher speed. When I slowly went down to 89 km/h it starts counting again)

I will let you know when I have the new speedo.

At least there is one benefit... I wasn't speeding officer, I was only doing 90kph

Yes, a good excuse in the eyes of the law there.

I recognize from your last comments that I do not explain the problem correct enough.

The speedo shows always the right speed but the odometer function doesnt work above 90 km/h.

I received yesterday the new speedo and will change it the next days. I will keep you informed about the result.

Never ending story.

I changed yesterday the speedos and after a short drive it was clear exactly the same failure

Talk to my dealer- dealer talked to the factory - dealer called me.

"Oh we are so sorry all speedos needs to be reflashed, could you please confirm that there is green dot on your speedo?"

My comment: "There is no green dot but my head is getting red"

It seems that the factory has again sent wrong speedos and for that reason we are doing now the same procedure again.
Speedo is on its way to the UK, will be (hopefully) reflashed and sent back.

I have the feeling that I have been arrived in the Morgan-family now.
