Anyone had experience of buying a car from Life's in Southport? They have a car which I'm interested in, and they seemed right enough when I went up there to view it. Just thought I should do a bit of due diligence first before buying it. Thanks.

As the quoted 'Oldest Morgan Dealer in the World, Since 1926, I would have thought they were highly trustworthy and have made many Customers Happy to own their Morgan. They gave me an interesting morning when I visited them on my Grade Tour. I have no connection to the company. thumbs

We are the longest established official Morgan dealer in the World having one of the largest stocks of used Morgans for sale. The company was originally founded in 1923 by Billy Life who started in business as a motorcycle dealer.

By 1926 as 3 wheeler Morgans became popular Lifes subsequently became one of the first official Morgan dealers selling 3 wheeler Morgans alongside the motorcycles. The business changed hands in 1934 when Gerry Hoyle, who worked for Billy Life, bought the business from him.

Gerry raced motorcycles and Morgans in sprints and hill climbs including events on Southport beach, which was a famous venue for many international speed records. Gerry finally sold the business to George Randall in 1960 shortly before retiring. George, who had bought motorcycles from Lifes in the past and also had a Morgan on order with them, always claimed he bought the business to get early delivery of his car!

As the British motorcycle industry went into decline, Lifes concentrated on cars and for the last 28 years have dealt exclusively with new and used Morgans. George sold the business to his son Dave Randall in 1991 and it has now been in our family for 53 years. We are proud of not only being the oldest Morgan dealer in the world, but because we deal in Morgans and Morgans only, we usually have a very large stock of good, well prepared used Morgans for sale.

As Morgan specialists we also offer full service facilities and keep a good stock of spares and accessories. Anyone wishing to talk to a family business run by enthusiasts who aim to offer a personal and friendly service should contact Dave Randall.

Despite not being local I bought my current 4/4 from Lifes last year, picking up a cancelled build slot.
Dave was a good guy to deal with and I would certainly recommend them.

I motored all the way from West Sussex to see them a few weeks ago as I was interested in a car they had. As it turned out the particular car wasn't for me but I really liked Dave and would have quite happily dealt with him had the car been to my liking.

I haven't had many dealings with Dave but I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Morgan from him based on my experience and what I've heard.

+1 I bought my car from Dave Randal too.

Dave supplied the names and contact details of the previous two owners for me, so I could speak to them and get a detailed car history before buying.

We then agreed the price and what needed doing (including a service, fitting a luggage rack, personal reg transfer, etc.) and all was done ready for collection at the allotted time, no problems at all.

He recently completed the paperwork for a new agreed valuation certificate for me for the insurance as well.

Top bloke... IMHO.

And they were at Harrogate, although I didn't get chance to look at the cars they brought over.
