i've seen peterG's column that was wrapped by rutter as well as one more online but no details and was wondering if anyone else has had theirs wrapped to cover the cheap plastic steering column cover. would love to hear and see of anyone else's experiences as i know peter's was far from perfect regarding the leather job

In May I visited the Morgan Factory, on the occasion I saw that one of the workers was wrapping the steering column cover in leather. The worker (very friendly) confirmed this is an option now. Also, the doorhandle covers can be treated similarly.
Although, an improvement, I still find the whole thing far too bulky. I have had the whole thing removed and have a shiny metal cover over the housing of the indicator switch.

Kind regards,
BertR

I've emailed the factory to see if they will do it on the 3w. Keep you posted.

I assume we are talking about the plastic housing that covers the workings of the indicators on the top of the column, behind the steering wheel boss are we Blake?

If so, wouldn't it be just as easy and cheaper to get a section of leather in the correct colour, and get a local upholsterer to do the job?

Failing that, I know that Williams Morgan now have a trim shop of their own and I'm sure they would also be delighted to quote for this job. http://www.williamsautomobiles.com/servicing/trim/ Email them and see what they say.

you are correct paul. that's the culprit. just really cheap looking plastic. i'm sure williams could do it (as does melvyn's shop), but would always be nice to get it done straight from the factory, especially for me since williams and rutter's shops aren't exactly close to me so shipping would be a pain.

will see what the factory says. i'm already ordering an extra hide for my car (which is pretty close to being done) for some additional future projects on it as my leather is bespoke and would rather not try to match it a few months down the line

@black adder, what did rutter charge you for the wrap? I like the metal ring they made to cap it all off, very nice. as for the cleanliness of the leather wrap itself i was a bit underwhelmed at some bits on peter's car.

how has yours held up?

Blake - holding up well, it was well finished, no peeling , bubbling or dodgy edges.
It was part of the package with the Mota Lita steering wheel which was trimmed in the same leather. I can look up the package price if you like and PM you - it wasn't cheap!
I'm not sure if it was done in their own trim shop or outsourced with the steering wheel.
