Indeed why no Aero? One even made it in to Top Gear live in Perth a few years back in their supercar line up.

I see your point Peter, but I am rather glad that there was not a Morgan in the convoy. Modern Ferraris, Lamborghinis, replica GT40s? All a trifle sudden for my tastes. Now if it had been the beautiful Blower Bentley, the genuine Lotus 11 and the lovely Swallow Dorettis that were on the ferry a group of us took to the LMC!

It would appear, based on the links, that it was done as a promotion for the film Need for Speed and therefore, the cars used were ones featured in the film. As for whether the M6 Toll was fully compensated; I'd suggest that when film companies and PR are involved the answer would be yes.
