No, it wasn't the advertising! We wanted to downsize to two cars, one being the 4/4 so the other has to be the daily driver for HRH, be capable of towing a largish off -road caravan ( future purchase) and not too big. Really rusted onto Toyotas but the Land Cruiser is too big and the Prado has a lowish tow rating. So a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee is it. Can't get my head around a car with so much electronic trickery on it. Bloody manual is like a bible, we still can't work out how to drive half the stuff on it.

Just back from a trip "up north" to Carnarvon and the number of 4x4's and off road caravans was amazing. Sounds like fun.

We caravan in the UK. We don't pollute with aeroplanes. We buy local food. We support local businesses. We... need I go on?

We caravan in the UK. We don't pollute with aeroplanes. We buy local food. We support local businesses. We... need I go on? A chacun son goût. Your argument is sound, but it doesn't make me like caravans any better. We often holiday in France by car, so we too avoid flying, buy local grub & so on, but you could say we support local businesses even more.......by staying in hotels.

We stay in pubs doing B&B - preferably ones that use local produce, but MUST have good local ale (for me) and reasonable wine for
