Yes that's the place. Mine was 6000 ish. I think one was maybe 9000 and the other 4000 ish. Not high. The 2012 cross brace does nothing other than transfer shock across the chassis in my view. It needed triangulation from day one.

Had an interesting day today. It's been a busy week with TOTH last weekend, home to pack & a week away, home again & out today to the Vintage Motor Cycle Club's Founders Day rally up the road from me.

Went in with the bikes and not the cars, and moments later a chap and his wife parked next to me in their Guzzi engined Triking. We spent about twenty minutes comparing things back to back & even drove each others car around the field.

I do have a further oil leak, but as this in hand I can't explain any further as to the location or cause as yet, but it may be an excess of crankcase pressure. Either way, it's an S&S thing rather than a Malvern thing on the face of it.

Mr Triking was VERY smitten by just how well screwed together the M3W was compared to his, even likening the difference to a Merc/BMW feeling after driving a family saloon. He was very scathing of the quality of the Guzzi engine and drivetrain, even before I'd mentioned the M3W umm, 'foibles'..

He finished his car at the end of winter this year and estimates he's spend about £22k, which I think makes a hand built brand new M3W with a long guarantee seem almost good value, but that's my subjective opinion which sways dependent upon the amount of black gold in my drip tray..

Mine leaked from the push rod cover on the front of the engine. The dealer tried to tell me it was the oil breather (which is just above) for a long time, but eventually got it identified and fixed it (after a long wait) under warranty. The Head had to come off the engine to change it. Since then my garage floor has been spotless.

Sorry but I really can't let that go.

"Mr Triking" (not the Triking company itself) has built his own car from supplied parts and undoubtedly has used a second hand Guzzi engine of who knows what origin. You are trying to compare the work of an individual who has built one car to that of a company building 600 or more 3 wheelers a year. If anyone bares the responsibility of how well it is finished it is the builder. Most, not all, Trikings are home assembled. Triking will also supply a factory built car. In nearly all cases the motor is second hand as Guzzi only sell the motors etc. at premium spare-parts prices. They do not sell crate engines (regretfully). The usual procedure is to buy a crashed or second hand bike to supply the parts.

It is not unusual for a well maintained Guzzi to have well over 100,000 miles have had nothing more than changes of clutch plates. You can't take one person's experience of a second hand motor and drive train of unknown age and condition, installed who knows how, and use it to criticise the make as a whole. any more than you can take one home built three wheeler as representative of them all.

I'll get down of the stepladder now. The soapbox was not high enough.

I'm not just doing this for me. I have met a lot of great people through this forum, some face to face and I have been in their M3Ws too. Solidarity.

Hi Donald,

Do you have already more news from Mr. Morris ?
We're all very curious what he has to offer us.
Not only the ones near the factory but also the ones oversea.

I think Mr. Merlin did make some interesting points, and I would also like to know what all the other cars are performing like. I really cannot believe that they are all prepared to put up with the atrocious bump steer for instance, even if their cars have been 100% reliable.

In fairness, the two Three Wheelers I have owned have been pretty reliable, the second one only needing a bevel box, though bear in mind the 1st one only covered 1000 miles, and my current one has now done around 2000 miles, but there is no doubt that the basic engineering is fundamentally flawed, and the factory are doing precious little to fix things in a hurry, or, if they are, they like to keep all the good stuff to themselves, and do not believe in communication - a basic fundamental in keeping customers happy.

My feeling is that the factory are so busy and understaffed, that they just cannot get around to doing everything they need to do, the intention is there, but not the time. The difficulty is that their customers will get pissed off eventually, even with huge best will in the world, which, luckily the MMC does have, however their goodwill won't last forever at this rate, they really need to step up their game, maybe Donald's suggestion of an open letter may do it, although I suspect that Steve Morris is doing everything he can, since his promotion to MD, to improve things, it just isn't enough. Sales will soon suffer, and residuals of early cars are already tumbling because no one wants to touch them, I suspect even cars with the 2014 mods will be hard to sell at anything like a realistic price.

Sadly, I can't really see any light at the end of the tunnel at the moment.

I don't want to get to heavily involved in this particular subject for obvious reasons, however I'd like to point out that we have a customer service telephone number on our website 01684 580757 the email address is dsc@morgan-motor.co.uk
This was introduced several months ago (and has been used by our dealer network since last November) and followed on from the global dealer meeting(& focus group), where several matters including customer service and communication with the factory were raised. We aim to answer any queries through our DSC within 24hrs.
We do listen to our customers and are constantly monitoring our own systems to provide a better service, sometimes we're unable to react as quickly as we'd like and it would be naive of us to think that our customer service is at the required level for the marque but we are moving in the right direction.
Obviously the contact information has not filtered through to the group, please contact us through this channel with any issues or questions you may have (although your nearest dealer should always be the first point of contact).

Regards

Mark

Thanks for letting us know the number Mark. The test will come when we actually see things happening after a call. One of the big problem I and others have suffered, is actually speaking to the person concerned and getting them to actually action things and, importantly, let the customer know what is happening. It would be nice if we could count on that.

Mark,

Thank you for taking the time to reply on here, I think everyone recognises MMC shouldn't respond publicly to individuals problems, so the information you make mention of should be an extra avenue for anyone that wishes to take that offer up.

Back in January this year I was fortunate enough to come along to Pickersleigh Road for a customer feedback session, something which I think was very productive.

My question now is, would you be willing to host a further, similar, session in the Autumn?

If so, it would allow for a frank exchange of views and offer a further opportunity for owners to perhaps understand more than present and maybe achieve more than speculating on an open forum.

For overseas owners, it would be an opportunity to be heard via fellow owners who live a little closer, with many questions able to be read out on their behalf.

I would be willing to act as a liaison should this is acceptable.

Does anyone else have any views on this..?

Regards

Steve
