Thanks all! So in the region of 25 all round as a starting point then. It's more to check they aren't wildly out really. Incidentally, can it be done with a track pump for a racing bike? I guess fronts yes, rear no?

You need a foot pump - and you need to keep it with you, along with the tyre foam can, wherever you go in the M3W. Thus equipped, if you have a puncture you at least have a good chance of getting to a place of safety.

Well, did them at a petrol station and found while the rear was spot on 25, the fronts were at 14 Now 25 all round. Next question; how far can I get at a steady 130km/h on a "full" (stopped at first click to avoid fuelling issues) tank? I'm hoping for 300km... Was thinking how "characterful" this car is when driving home from the petrol station... You can't fill the tank fully or it won't run, and it's sold with a petrol gauge that reads empty when there's still 50% left... Then I got in my boring diesel eurobox and instantly remembered why I love it...

I use 28 on the fronts - nice and progressive as you near the understeer at the limit.

I run 28 back and front and regarding fuel at a steady 3000-3250 rpm can manage 41mpg or a good 300 miles per tank, i usually fill up at 275 to be on the safe side.
Vspec, you need to fit the 280mm tank sender, much more accurate.

I think there is still decent amount left in the tank even when the new sender says 0%, but have never tested this theory... Hopefully I'll manage 300 (km not miles) then, although I don't remember what rpm 130kmh is. I have a 5l jerry can with me just in case

Vspec - I fill at 250 miles following a brimming of the tank..... which used to be fine but now causes the car to cough to a halt if I fill it up too much. How very sweet of it!
My wing-man in his 3-Wheeler ran flat dry at 295miles during a spirited 130km/h drive back from Germany last year, so your mileage may vary, as they say in the US. I think Mr Dab has a very economic right foot, as the best mine does is 33mpg overall if I drive as sensibly as is reasonable.
RE: the stalling when full-to-the-brim. Anyone know exactly what causes it? I assume the breather in the tank doesn't breath any more, as mine started up again once I'd opened the filler for a moment. Characterful things, aren't they?!

Mine coughs and splutters a bit after brimming but if i leave it to stand for 10 minutes its ok.
Before a long trip I will brim it at home from a can and leave it overnight then its ok.
How bizarre.

Sounds familiar-ish, the rear tyre keeps its pressure much like you would expect any modern tyre and wheel to do while the distinctly old fashioned inner tube and spoked wheel front combination does tend to have its pressure decrease steadily. Agree on the second point too!

i suggest that you check them regularly as (depending on vintage) the tolerances of the side of the belt and the tyre are quite slim. Also, the over-steer from a soggy deflated Tyre is quite nerve racking!
