Filled up with petrol yesterday and was driving along an A road when I heard a metallic ding ding ding behind me as the (obviously not correctly fitted) petrol cap disappeared into a hedge somewhere. Despite 30 minutes of looking I couldn't find it. have bought a petrol station replacement but would like a decent chrome one. It's a 1975 4/4 and I can confirm a 1969 mini's petrol cap doesn't fit! Does anyone know of the correct type so I can order one? It was a non-locking chrome one!

I got my '76 4/4 from Melyvn as mine came with an alloy Volvo one! Not that expensive, about GBP15 if I recall correctly.

That is a pain!

Aldermog can't lose the cap, it has one of these:

Monza Cap

The cap is hinged to the body....and there is a locking plug as well!

It has an external catch but it's not the one sold as 'Aston', which is much bigger externally and looks great when fitted but spend spend spend

I believe that this is 'ours'.
Classic Alloy 3 in (76mm) Locking Filler Cap

This is the best Aston:
Aston 3 1/2 in Alloy with Roller Catch (89mm)

Other smaller Astons are available........................
