[i]"It's belt drive with a 90* bevel box......

Looks like we may have a source for a reliable BB......hahaha smile"[/i

Better wait until they've been in production for a couple of years first though! hide

Is it just me that thinks that if what you really want is genuinely high performance, high cornering speeds and acceleration and so on then one of the main things to do is fit four wheels? The reason for the M3W being so much fun to drive is that it is not trying to be a Caterham or an Atom or anything similar and that isn't taking anything away from Caterham or the Atom. Both are cars that I would like to have as well as the ThreeWheeler, not instead of.

Quite right Callum, and as a Caterham owner, I can endorse what you say.

Three wheelers should be all about the driving experience, not the out and out performance, as for that, they are severely compromised.

If this is the case, there would be no separate 90 degree gearbox, just a belt sprocket on a axial reinforced right side output from the transaxle .

That's what I like about you Dan, you have an opinion on everything, whether it's informed or not...... smile

From the Polaris web site it shows the drivetrain to be a longitudinal mounted inline four mounted to a standard 5 speed rear wheel drive transmission, drive shaft, 90* bevel box then to a final belt drive.

Very similar to the 3W (other than the engine)

Redneck, you're correct with your statement. Opinions are like arm pits, everyone has a couple and some of them stink. I must have forgotten my antiperspirant when I replied to that...

But I'll be the first to say I was wrong with my preliminary infromtion. I like what they did a lot better than my thoughts.

That drivetrain is probably right out of a Saturn Sky or a Pontiac Solstice, but currently out of production.

The drivetrain should be pretty much bullet proof, motor thru driveshaft. I'm sure that Polaris has have had many years experience with differentials in their quads etc. It would not be too much of a stretch of the imagination for them to do a single sided version that would also be bullet proof.

I'm very impressed with this, other than the looks.

Yep, slide a Mog Three Wheeler body over the chassis, with a V twin out front, drive put narrower front wheels/tyres on and you may have the perfect car. wine

I think the SlingShot is ugly as hell...but put a deposit on an SL today.

The SL has bigger wheels (20" rear, 18" front) and they are forged compared to the cast for the base model. Stereo, Bluetooth, rear-view camera, shield, etc. In a video I saw, they indicated that the traction/stability control can be turned off unlike the CanAm Spyder. Rumor has it that you can pull a solid G in it in the corners...which many drivers of anything don't have the nerve to do...wide stance on the front-end and I expect a firm suspension. It also has tilt steering wheel and electric-assist steering (like the new Vettes).

Our local shop just got an allocation for three SlingShots...they planned to keep one for a demo but as of today, all three have deposits on them. They anticipate deliver in October. Top model out-the-door was equal to 1/2 a M3W which will make it even easier to flog.

In the appearance department, it's no M3W but in the performance department, it's no M3W either. It looks like it can get the job done and is made to drive in anger. I'm not big into the futuristic look but I look forward to having a reverse 3W that can stand a little shining of the ass. I'm looking at it much like I did the M3W before I took delivery...I think Polaris can deliver (base on the performance of my Indian). Good, bad or indifferent, I look forward to providing a comparison. The M3W is staying here...because I'm not going to be outdone by a mechanic device and it has sex appeal.

After owning a Spyder RS, a M3W and a SlingShot, I'll be plotting a three point curve pretty soon.
