I've done over 11k miles now, and the engine/gearbox is still loosening up nicely smile

But as a former MMC demonstrator, don't you think Rich that Boshers has been breathed on (or in the modern way chipped)in the best tradition of press cars from most sports car manufacturers; Jaguar were especially good at it from the XK120 to the E-type onwards, none of which could achieve their claimed top speed for example in standard spec. ooo

Of course - I doubt that even Boshly is that lucky to just get a 'really good' engine!!!

I'd love to be able to find out who did the breathing as they can do mine!

At 3k mine is still described as 'a bit tight' by those in the know, but I can't see it producing significant;y more power as it loosens up, - 3 or 4 bhp maybe.

What would be interesting would be the sidepipe modifications you have had done (worth it seems around 10bhp) with the additional remap on top. Theortically that would produce in the region of 370-380 bhp, which would be for want of a better word 'mental'...

...a good start would be the chaps who do the GT3 cars uk

A V8 usually starts to come into its prime between 7,000 - 10,000 miles.

However, as other have said, there is a lot of debate about the best way to break-in an engine and I don't think it is an exact science (unless you have the budget and resources of an F1 team laugh2 )

True, the new 4.8 puts out around 360bhp, but this is a conversion for the 286bhp S1 engine, so get bore it out and take it up 100bhp is a significant feat I would say?

IF they coudl add a similar 100bhp to an S4 engine via a similar method of uprated internals then you would be looking at a fearsome power output in a 1250kg car...
