I can't help think that swapping your avatar for one of Dick Dastardly is unlikely to endear you to insurers. A quick look at the Money supermarket page on the ins and outs of one day car insurance seems to suggest that some companies will accept EU licenses. http://www.moneysupermarket.com/car-insurance/one-day/

LOL! I've rented a BMW for the week anyhow. Will visit factory on next Tuesday and try and do some test driving so won't miss my car too much :-)
