Externally sourced quality control is still cost driven, and if it's done per unit, it wouldn't take long to run over with a couple of Friday cars. And apart from basic mechanical & MOT-worthy checks, plus door closure, and wheel alignment, what else can they do? They won't be removing all the screws to check they're the same!
And if anything comes to light which needs factory intervention, (eg paintwork or spares) that will add significantly to the logistics. So doing this work outside the factory doesn't appear to make much sense, unless the Chinese cars leave from Bristol?

Where is the holding warehouse for completed cars? Can somebody remind me?

The THREE things that MMC should consider then are :

1. Employ my Mrs as chief hoover operator - she simply would not allow dust, shavings and swarf to remain on the vehicles ;
2. Use ONLY stainless steel nuts and bolts etc. (rust on a new product unacceptsble). Would it add more thsn a tenner to build costs ?
3. Employ Jays and Aldermog as pre-despatch inspectors for non-technical areas. If they pass a car, the customer will be satisfied too.

I'm serious about all 3 !

Williams are not perfect...... My car had a full service and mot but on the drive back to plymouth had three very irritating problems that should have been picked up

Another of my gripes is using scruffy floorboards. Maybe they don't start off scruffy.
Apply a plastic barrier sheet, build car, hoover, then peel and the boards would be immaculate.
Hoovering the swarf would literally be a couple of minutes.

Please leave me out of it Jeremy........I've just told DaveW that I'm not fastidious!

As far as stainless is concerned, I've very few nuts and bolts that are corroded badly and that's on a 2009 car. Very few, if any, car or motorbike manufacturers use stainless fasteners, so why should Morgan? Well.....perhaps the door hinge screws!

well who are you kidding, I've seen Nero gleaming on several occasions even after having just been driven at least 50 miles to an event, I think I'll put you in the secret polisher club with Neillm, it's about time your outed!

Only downside with stainless nuts and bolts is they can loosen more easily than mild steel ones that rust together.

Old wives tale, especially if you use nylocs, you wont have a problem with stainless nuts and bolts.

Jays, when you polish Nero do you:

1. Lift the bottom edge of the hood to make sure you polish underneath even though no one will see it?
2. Polish the under side of the doors, even though no one can know?
3. Polish the narrow strip of the wings that is inside the bonnet opening, only visible when opening the bonnet?

If you admitt to any of that you are a "Secret Polisher"!!
