I have been offered a stainless steel bumper for my car which currently has over riders. Can anyone with a Duratec plus 4 tell me the length of the front and rear stainless bumpers please

Just been and measured my 2008 +4 Duratec and they are (to the 'pointed' end so max length) Front 1435mm, Rear 1540mm

And here was me thinking they were probably the same length ;-).

Hope that helps.

Fitting a bumper, do it by eye.

I did this, measured very carefully, installed the bumper just so and it looked truly desperate. Placed bumper so it looked right, and measurements were really odd - but as it looked right, who cares!

Not exactly a maintenance question but.............

I notice that on new cars the number plate is mounted on the rear bumper spoiling the line and resembling something not unlike a sore thumb!

I assume this is some sort of legal requirement for visibility etc, older cars have the plate under the bumper, is anyone aware whether the factory will place it there upon request or is it a hard and fast rule?

The 2001 rules are here:

Rules

And a good explanation here:

Speed Traps

They don't say exactly where, but the number plate has to be clear and legible. I suspect that "under the bumper" would be considered too low to be clearly legible.

Today the issue is more about ANPR Camera reading than Mr Plod.

Interesting.
Not sure when Morgan changed, by my 4/4 is 2003 and the rear plate is under the bumper.
