Hi, I bought my new M3W only a month ago...on 700km had to change the 3 bobbins on the regulator. 1000Km the regulator was out, had it changed under garantie...two issues, not even finished the break in :o/ ...
I found this helpful forum and was really afraid of al the breakdowns this car has.
When I bought my M3W, I was amaized to get a classic car but with the realibility
from a modern car, ok not to compaire, but at least cruising around without having to worry al the time. I really love to drive my M3W as well as I love the handmade build of it, it is just beautifull. But now I am really concerned of having it more in repairings than on the road.
Can anybody tell me what I have to expect as faillures on the 2014 model :o(
Sorry for my bad English, ...I have not often the occasion to write in that language.

Best regards from Luxembourg

Cheers,
Georges

Welcome aboard Smaug ! The 2014 has all the upgrades, hopefully those two issues should be the end of it. The rest of the lads will be along shortly ...

thumbs cheers

Hi Smaug,

as has been said, the rest of the problems have been largely sorted. Things to look out for:

1. Exhausts cracking: but you should have the new ones, and if they are OK so far then you probably have!

2. "Bevel Box", again this seems to be down to correct and careful lubrication with the right grade of oil. Even so probably worth changing the oil every 1500km for the first year...and talk to your dealer to see what MMC recommend.

3. Final drive pulley wear, some do some don't. Just watch it.

I've got a Roadster: it is utterly reliable (unless I do something stupid, it has been known) and I'm now thinking about a new M3W next year as a second car.

Oh, what colour and details? do post a photo!

Hello Smaug,

Welcome to the M3W world. I have a 2013 M3W and have experienced quite a few of the common faults you will see on various postings on this very helpful forum, but not all of them. Most of these faults it seems have now been rectified in the 2014 car.

The M3W has had a difficult birth, but in my view no other car can match it. I am sure Morgan are putting great effort into developing and evolving the car for a long and prosperous future.

I would enjoy your car for what it is, not look to deeply into the issues posted on here as you might not experience any of them. If you do, you will find all the info and support you need on this forum. I have found it very useful. You have a long warranty ahead of you and in that time most faults should have been ironed out.

The concern is for owners of early cars who's warranty has or is about to expire.

Would be very interested to know what colour and spec you have.

Enjoy!

Dave

I haven't had any issues with the 2014 M3W (yet). Just 6 months and a little over 3000 miles. However it doesn't stop me feeling slightly anxious when driving it.

I realise this in two ways:

The first is the total relaxation I have in my old 4/4. The second is, for example, the other day I was driving through a village and there was a rhythmic metallic hammering from the roof of a house. It took me a few seconds for my brain to accept that the taps were not from the car and a harbinger of some new sort of failure.

I emphasise that so far I have had no issues at all. The only excess noise has been occasionally from the rear belt/pulley.

Have fun it's a hoot.

Smaug,

enjoy your Mog. Back up the bobbins with plastic cable ties.

Take care of BB and rear drive as mentioned and have a heap of fun.

IMHO spend what spare time you have reading about experiences and upgrades on here.

I have changed to a 4/4 now but despite challenges I had there were plenty of good drives.

I echo Donalds thougths and by coincidence now too have a 4/4

The M3W is a great car - and we had very many unforgettable adventures over almost 2 years...I miss her not being in the Garage!!

Enjoy your car!! laugh2
