Dear all

My wife and I have just returned from Normandy. It was our first real run in the Plus Four since we have purchased it in July. The Mog has the Rover T16 engine and overall I am very pleased with it.
The only problem we had was the heater. Driving roof down at 3am with the heater on full and only tepid heat from the vents. The temp guage shows 75 when travelling. On tickover it will go up to just under 100 and the fan cuts in. The heater is then working as it should, but directly I start to move off the wind chill factor cuts in and the temp gauge drops back to 75 and the heater is tepid. I have now fitted another thermostat but this has not changed a thing.
Has anyone had any problems like this before. Please think as I do not have much hair left and the wife is threatening not to come out in it without the roof being up. Divorce is to expensive.

Heater matrix might be blocked

are the pipes to and from the heater matrix kinked ?

is the cooling fan running all the time ?

might have an air lock in the cooling system, try bleeding it with a pressure tester

you could just buy her a jumper for christmas !!!!!

David,
my 97 plus 4 also doesn't get hotter than yours on the gauge but the heater works fine.

I would guess if the water levels are correct the matrix is blocked. I had a Renault 5TS once that had this problem. Try taking of the feeder & exit hoses and using a hose pipe to flush it.

Good luck

Hi all
Thanks for the advice, I shall give the matrix a blast through with the hose pipe and see what happens.
