Well it's the end of an era, and my Plus 4, "Monte" is up for sale. He's been a smashing little car and given us many (s)miles of happy "classic" motoring pleasure.

Brief outline is as follows:

2005 2.0lt Ford Duratec, ~13,000 miles; Connaught Green with Ocean Green Muirhead leather; black piped green Everflex Easy Up hood; Plus 8 / Roadster alloys; AVO adjustable shocks all round; Mulfab Panhard rod; 0.5deg negative camber plates; recent (~2.5k miles ago) conversion from Devol to bronze bushes, thrust races, damper blades removed, and new S/S kingpins (greased at 300-500 mile intervals); Raceline fully baffled alloy sump; LM62 dashboard fitted with MK toggle switches in ivory to match the ivory dials; MotoLita Mk3 14" wood rim steering wheel (slots and riveted); and Cain Poulton bonnet stays. Additionally there are black piped green factory tonneau cover, and spare wheel cover, and a side screen bag; Librands S/S luggage rack with side screen storage; John Taylor round convex S/S door mirrors, S/S plinths for the front and rear indicator lamps, side/brake lights, and reflectors; and a Morgan logo organ throttle pedal.

I know I'm biased, but the car has been faultless and totally reliable in my ownership (even 99% waterproof in the Biblical rain en route home from this years Le Mans Classic!) and handles very well having been set up by Russell Patterson.

Somebody is going to enjoy a lovely example of the marque!

Don't contact me, I've sold the car to Dave Randal at Lifes Morgan in Southport. Anyone who is interested, please contact Dave or a member of his team on:

Philip, could I smell a 3.7 Roadster on its way, or have you left the Morgan fold?

Ah, sorry folks, in hindsight I should have said what the plans were, but TBH I didn't think there would be so much interest!

I suppose the clue was in the first line with "end of an era". I've remained true to my words on TM in that I always said that I wouldn't buy a new Morgan and would either keep Monte long term, or move on. I was very fortunate in my choice of Monte because he really was a smashing, well fettled car. Nonetheless, after 2.5 years we had done lots of 30-50 mile runs out on dry days around the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, a few longer trips and weekends away, and things were getting a little repetitive. The 2014 Le Mans Classic trip was a high point, but we have limited time in the UK in the summer months and with another special "fine days only" set of wheels to share the limited number of fine days in the North West, it was just time to move on.

My good lady wife of 36 years will be benefitting in the form of a three pointed star folding tin top. It's an automatic with heated seats, air scarf, parking "beep-beep" front and rear, cruise control, etc., etc., you get the idea; her choice of open top motoring.

So their you have it, Morgan box ticked on the bucket list, "con te patiṛ" as they say!

Finally I should add that I've also enjoyed my time on TM, a truly great site and resource, so I'll probably tune in from time to time to see how things are going, but promise not to post anything negative or controversial wink

Heck Philip - we've been used to seeing sitting on your stool in the Malvern Arms!

Good luck with your change of direction & don't forget to drop in for that virtual pint from time to time! cheers wine
