I just happened to be in the Bristol area last Saturday and decided to drag my wife to look at the cars in the local Morgan dealers. Seemed very quiet and we wandered around the Morgan area in total isolation. What amused me the most, was that a silver Plus 4 had the bonnet open and the engine area was covered in spider's webs. Looking at the other Plus 4, it was really quite dirty inside (new vehicle)and needs a good clean and polish to make it look like new. Not once did anyone come and ask if we needed any help. After 20 minutes we wandered back to our car and left. I am sure that this would not happen in the traditional dealers showrooms, or perhaps these modern dealers are selling so many cars that they don't have to bother anymore - Not a good advert for Morgan

! Our average time from arrival to being offered a cup of tea is less than a minute!
Did test a London based dealer before buying, but they failed the audition very quickly.
Funnily enough, I once did some 'mystery shopping', complete with camera in tie! Was left completely alone at a Skoda showroom, and not allowed to make first contact.
Filmed the person playing computer games, the receptionist filing her nails, a pile of boxes dumped in a corner and the bit of cardboard soaking up the oil under a car!

Neil Interesting point you make,I have been researching over the last 6 months for a purchase I am making. Can't say I have come across a cleanliness issue or a lack of interest with customers, quite the opposite most appear to be Morgan enthusiasts themselves. In fact like the cars there is an old fashioned style to the dealerships, lots of polishing and chat. Some of the websites are a bit behind the drag curve, but it is always best to get out there and check out the cobwebs ,,, Dave

or perhaps these modern dealers are selling so many cars that they don't have to bother anymore - Not a good advert for Morgan Neil, I have had both positive and negative experiences with all car dealers, not just Morgan. And I doubt very much that your comment above is anywhere near the truth - the motor trade is currently suffering and I doubt any of the manufacturers or their dealers are happy to turn away business. My best advice would be to ask other owners for recommendations. This usually helps separate those who are customer service focused from those who are not.

Cannot recommend BHM more highly. Cars well prepared and presented - endlessly helpful (tea included)

Having already decided to buy a Morgan our first dealership experience in 1998 (Maidenhead) was abysmal , just like any other multi-manufacturer garage. Next stop was RTCC and this was a true Morgan Experience and have had 2 cars thru them. Sadly the Aero8 has been a bundle of trouble but this is Morgan's issue, not RTCC, who have been unreservedly helpful in getting the issues sorted out and providing copious cups of tea and sympathy. Have also had occasion to call in on BHM and they were absolutely charming.

I agree, all of the "traditional" Morgan dealers I have deal with have always been helpful and more importantly - knowledgeable. They have an interest in keeping your custom, either in servicing or selling you future cars. There has been a number of multi manufacture dealership who have become Morgan agents but have not continued in that role for very long. I bought my Plus 8 from one, after getting the car home I found the tyre pressures to be 10lb and the rear alloy centre lock wheels to be loose on the splines.I am pleased to say they are no longer Morgan dealers.

There has been a number of multi manufacture dealership who have become Morgan agents but have not continued in that role for very long. I have personally found Julian from SGT (who would fit the description of a multi-manufacture dealership) to be excellent. He is honest in his approach, knowledgeable and a genuine enthusiast. I would most definitely recommend them to a new, or existing Morgan customer. Neil, I hope you have better luck with your next foray into a dealership.
