I am not sure that "The State" needs to be involved. Most Care Homes are privately run, and monitored by CQC (Care Quality Commission). They have already replied to me that the idea.. "..falls outside of our regulatory remit..". I agree that things done quietly are usually better, but I also need to be aware that some plonker might collide with our Classic Passenger and so there needs to be liability insurance in place, or at least the knowledge that the regular Car insurance covers it.
Perhaps there is a lawyer on this forum who would know this.

There is also the issue of relatives.. in some cases they will be the main carer and if the old guy doesn't tell them there might be hell to pay! I think this might be easy enough to deal with in a check-box layout on the website.

If the website allows the "agreement" to be between the Driver and the Classic Passenger, then I am not sure the Care Home is involved.. after all, they are still people allowed to make their own decisions about what they do.. maybe.

Having watched my father transition to the age of 96, I am aiming this at the "fit and healthy" - there is a tendency for all of us to think of an old person as "disabled" which is not the case for the majority who simply don't have anyone to look after them, so they are in homes or "lonely at home". I am not envisioning lifting people out of wheelchairs into the Morgan (not strong enough now!), but my old Dad makes it in and out with a bit of assistance and I'm sure there are many 65 - 95 yr olds who can do the same.

All the CRB check confirms is that you haven't been caught yet. They are a near worthless waste of money.

AFAIK every recent convicted child abuser in the press would have passed their CRB.

Once you "organise" something official it will be strangled by paperwork and committees like most things and the spirit of the idea can be lost in this transition IMHO.

Good Luck

I agree with Richard and would be happy to participate in such a scheme with the only caveat being and based on experience with my late mother that mobility would need to be checked very carefully. The mind of people may be enthusiastic but the reality of getting them in and out of a Morgan may be problematic. Great idea though.

Pete

As you will have gathered Cineman I have been doing this in a very Devon way for a while now and it certainly enhances these peoples lives in their sunset years - were you to get some formal arrangement organised like Pete I would be pleased to take a share with you.
