I'm not sure about the need for a second anti tramp bar....I've done some pretty hot blooded starts at Shelsley and Prescott and its not been a big problem and for normal driving on the road it's not something I need.

I can recommend an upgrade to the brakes on the pre Caparo calliper models, especially if you are upping the power significantly.

Mr Stride... oh bu**er it, Jays, , would you care to comment on your new, post Capro, stoppers?

I think what Jays is getting at is that the Caparo 4 pot callipers are an improvement on the lockhead ones, such as were on Rosie, these with time can get sticky pistons which is not easily solved, and can cause judder and inefficient braking. A better improvement is vented discs with modern billet 4 pots which gives better braking, kits are available from Mulfab, and Jays has a similar solution to theirs fitted recently by Williams to Nero. At the moment I find my Caparos with solid disc more than adequate to stop my 3.7 Roadster, but if I was doing track days might consider upgrading. If you are hill climbing only then the brakes as standard if working properly should be fine, they won't have time to get hot and become inefficient.

I would be interested in Jays experience with his new brakes as well.

cheers

Adrian

I prepared last year these already mentioned 2 videos of the rear suspension of my 3.7 morgan and put them on youtube ("Winfried Flugsang", morgan 3.7 rear suspension)
The reason for the first video was, that I had some problems with the car when driving fast (I was used my 4/4 only) and I wanted to know what is going on in my back. So I was shocked about the movements of the rear suspension when I saw the video. After installation of two anti-tramp bars, a panhard rod, brake reaction bars and AVOs I prepared the second video, which underlines my driving feeling: I feel now much safer and comfortable. For me personnaly the 3.7 needs these improvements, if you really want to use the potential of the very powerful 3.7 engine.
By the way for me the "performance improvement" would be to make a training course for sports diver before I would do anything with the engine. But this is for me only.

The brakes work well. They are Tarox 6 pot callipers with vented and grooved Tarox discs and Tarox own fast road pads. Williams also fitted as part of their newly developed kit, stainless hoses front and rear as well.
I did wonder if 6 pot was going to over brake the car but that's not the case. The brakes are more effective but at the same time give more feel and are easier to modulate than the original 2 pots. The one big improvement on my car and the most unexpected, is the clearing up go my problem with bad shimmy at anything over 70. That has now virtually gone. It must have been caused by out balance original brake discs although I never had the problem of pulsating brake pedal.
Not a cheap conversion compared to the Aero Racing/ Highspec 4 pots but I was keen to try something new.

I agree with all you say. The second anti tramp bar installed without the addition of the panhard rod is a valuable upgrade on it's own. The car feels much more controlled and does not loose any comfort. Imagine that only one anti tramp bar installed lets the axle move uncontrolled in horizontal level, turning of the straight line when accelerating and generating a bow with the "tramped" wheel as a center. May be it is subtle change but it is bettering the feel and the love for the car.

Tha panhard rod is another topic. I guess that the quality of the rod and the mounting has a word. On my P4SS I had no complaints, I have to add that I could compensate her by a softer damper setting (for now I have no adjustable shocks with the Roadster).

But I have a significantly better ride without the panhard rod now with the Roadster. Generally spoken each panhard regardless of quality will let any lateral impacts go unfiltered to the car and to you. It's physical law and consequently no free lunch.

I will report after trying alternatives. But even without a panhard rod I have to drive forbiddingy fast to whish I had one. I would not go back to sacrifice the comfort. BTW I have not experienced any comfort loss caused by the second antitramp bar.

Your last point, Axel, is the most important one, everyone should think about an enhancement of his driving skills before doing overkill the car.

The 3.7 is extremely fast in standard form so any increase in power would require significant upgrades to brakes and handling. Not sure I would want to drive one with more power than it has as standard. Its frighteningly fast. scared

Axel , I'm rather siprised that these parts aren't already fitted as standard to the 3.7 , how on earth are people supposed to drive a 280 bhp car without them !! This is where characterful loses its meaning !

TC on both sides? (which I think is very important)... in the same way Axel improved his now older 3.7 after purchasing? That is really great news.
