Having just read the thread entitled "Brooklands Chassis" and seen the photos posted by Mario of his fractured exhaust I went and checked my month old 650 mile Brooklands and my exhausts are the same as Mario's, both are fractured at the front of the silencer seemingly behind the weld. My car will have the latest exhausts as I had to wait a bit longer for it as according to the dealer they were changing the exhaust steel. I thought it was a bit loud but was enjoying the pops and bangs on the over-run. Have started this thread as we need to stay on the same page here, would suggest that all Brooklands owners will probably suffer the same fate so we need to keep each other informed. Will be contacting my dealer today and will update this page. Not good and not happy, I know from reading on here that others have had similar problems. Surely when this is solved it has to result in a recall for all cars to be updated, or don't Morgan do that.

Yesterday when I was at morgan I was briefly considering changing the exhaust to another thicker variant or at least one they had in stock:
Employee: you could try a thicker exhaust like the brooklands.
Me: yes but ive heard they have had problems too.
Employee: no they are fine now...

I had 2 failures of the MK1 version and only ordered another car because of MMCs assurance that they have solved the issue with a thicker exhaust. Clearly they haven't and I am awaiting a response from Morgan.

As has been documented elsewhere don't think it's the exhaust, it has to be the mountings coupled with the clear fact that the car is "overengined", maybe they went for an American engine to appeal to that market, the engine is crude and let's face it not very powerful, there would surely have been other engines available from Japan/Italy with less cc's that would have been smoother and more powerful. The silencers only need to be held enough to be allowed to vibrate with that great big thing thundering away in the front, clearly that is difficult due to the amount of vibration. Just my opinion but reckon am entitled after spending a lot of folding here. Will update as am sure others will.....Thanks to those who have replied, least am not alone, there is strange comfort to be drawn from that.

I have contacted the dealer who I do have faith in and sent him some pictures which I would put on here if could work out how. He is hopefully going to sort it. Will update when I know more

I had two pipes go at the same weld on a non brooklands 2012 model within 72 hours of each other (thank heavens I had warranty) - the modified replacements came in shorter and it looks like the original length caused the resonance frequency &/or reflected pressure waves to set up a harmonic/standing wave exactly at the weld, weakening the pipe and eventually the fatigue stress causing crack fracturing around the weld.

I too had no warning prior to the pipes giving way - the factory's silence with this issue leaves a lot to be desired.

It'll be interesting to see where we all go with these pipe issues - I really like the look of the brooklands silencers too, but this issue needs rapid remedy.

4 broken pipes in 13 000 km on my earlier 2012. Got them TIG-welded and got prolonged mtbf.

Nearly one week later, no updates from me. The silence from the factory is becoming noisy in my mind every time I think about it. Thinking more and more often with each day that passes.

We keep on hearing promises of improved communication from the factory to both customers and dealers but sadly it is still not happening .....

Please excuse this question from a non morgan owner, I've just got to ask it!

Money aside.. if you took the broken exhausts to a stainless steel/exhaust specialist and asked them to fit a 5mm thick collar next to the box and then weld it back up. Would that solve the problem?
