Having just finished reading "Morgan 100 Years" by Charles Morgan and Gregory Houston Bowden, I thought it deserved to be brought to the attention of the forum. The book, which has just been published for the Centenary is not included in the Centenary Collection on the MMC website but can be found under Books and Videos.

I particularly liked a modification which occurred in 1918.

"With the fuel shortages virtually stopping all motoring, a most welcome technical devlopment in 1918 was the gas powered Morgan. This was the brainchild of two men......They constructed a frame above their Morgan which supported a large gas bag 7 ft 10 in long, 4 ft wide and 3 ft high. This bag held enough gas for about 30 miles driving and took 10 minutes to fill at a cost of 1 shilling (5p). A half inch flexible gas pipe connected the bag to the AMAC carburettor which had required no modification to take this alternative fuel"

The book provides a concise, easily read, history of the cars and their place in motorsport. I found it a thoroughly good read and would recommend it to anyone who likes Morgans.

In making this recommendation the usual disclaimer applies. I have no relationship with the authors or the Morgan Motor Company. My views are totally biassed owing to the relationship I have with my MOG love

Got my copy at the Aero Club meet in St Trop - a nice book, with the added bonus that I got Charles to sign it for me. My collection of signed Morgan books grows to a mighty 2!

(The other being Chris Lawrences book from last year - Morgan Maverick - also well worth checking out!)

In my opinion, and from what I have read thus far, it is an excellent book; definitely worth the purchase price.

The pictures really compliment the text and there are some superb photographs following the history, and the wonderful vehicles, of MMC over the past 100-years.

I got this book delivered from Morgan today and Steve Morris had signed it for me. Top bloke and a very nice gesture.

I suggest that if you haven't got this book, you hurry up as its already appreciating with specialist sellers.
