Wow that result is almost as close as the Yes / No vote tomorrow !

Talking of which, as intelligent Morgan owners, I presume ALL Scots' TMers who are allowed to vote by the Lying Scotsman (his publicity, not mine) will be voting NO ?

Cheers

There is much that is not as it should be, as in any club run by members it is inevitable that people forget it is really a business run for the benefit of and to meet the needs of its members, the shareholders.

It is easy to be critical, but to be honest it is probably easier to bring change to MSCC than to the public company that is my employer. As Colin said, name calling, infighting and complaints are the norm.

I do see glacial change. I'd like the rate of change to increase. I am considering how best to do that. Watch this space.

Well Peter, I am but I don't think I shall renew because for the most part TM answers my needs very well and I only look forward to the MSCC magazine for the photo's of the cars as I rarely see one for real here. I am not interested in what Katy did, or did next. I recently culled years of magazines to save the tech articles: I put aside eight.

I rejoined the MSCC this year after a four year lapse so I do appreciated the comments.

For what it's worth, here's my take. I've owned Morgans for many, many years and have modified, sprinted, raced, toured, pulled apart, put back together as well as other things in younger days that will remain undisclosed.

I have great friends in the Northern Centre as others in the area some of whom I have the pleasure of calling friends for over 30 years. I count Dave Rutherford as a close friend too. Without the MSCC and Norcemog I wouldn't have had the pleasure of meeting such an eclectic, interesting, idiosyncratic, supportive, argumentative but endearing bunch of people. Many won't know that Harvey Postlethwaite (yes Tyrrell Formula One and Honda Formula One chief designer) was a Morgan owner/racer and a founder member of Norcemog. Stan Thorpe (3 wheeler expert) was another.

Last week I was at Dunham Massey with the Norcemog friends, a few weeks before I was playing at the MSCC organised taster at their Curborough sprint meeting. A few weeks before that I was out sailing with members in Cardigan Bay. Without the MSCC, the two Curborough events wouldn't be there to participate in and enjoy.

Yes the MSCC has its failings, it won't suit everybody but its unpaid volunteers do their best and the result is a club of different individuals with a common interest.

I don't long for Miscellany to arrive in the post; I'm not particularly interested in what's happening in other centres and there's little for me in the technical articles. But you know what, I meet members who have rare Morgans who say, come and visit and crawl all over my car or, fancy jumping into my +4 that you last saw when father took it to France in 1986. The MSCC offers me serendipity and for those wonderful moments it gives me great value for money.

We joined when we bought the car. Like most clubs it could always be better but for what we pay a year I can't rally get upset about it. I also recognise that a lot of people do put a lot of their time into it on a voluntary basis which has to be appreciated. Our local Devamog centre is without a secretary as nobody wants to take on the 'poisoned chalice'. We are too busy with our business to spend time getting involved more and having previously got stuck into helping run other voluntary organisations we're happy for the time being to keep it on this level without getting lost in the politics. More time out in the Mog! If it wasn't for the membership and being in Devamog we wouldn't have to got to meet and make some new friends so there are some positives for us.
TM has been a great way also to make new friends and keep up to speed with what's new.

My wife and I joined a good few years ago. Can't say we are ideal members as we probably only get to 3 or 4 meetings in a year but it's been a joy to meet such invariably nice people whenever and wherever we've attended anywhere.
I haven't noticed all the politics so to me it's all excellent and the magazine is a pleasant bonus. What changes are needed?

Done. I have been a continuous member since 1982 but for the last two years, I have been unsure why I re-joined. The benefits of the club are very thin for me and miscellany is not as good as the MOG mag.

Plus Mogtalk in not as good as TM!!

Nick, I suspect that it's the old one of: more people need to get involved and contribute.

For a couple of years I was the chairman of Norcemog. It was great fun but it needed time to devote to it. I suspect that most are living busier lives than before and don't have a surplus of free time and that that they do have, they want or need to devote it to other matters.

For those who do volunteer, I take my hat off to them!
