I joined when I decided that my Triumph Stag was becoming a pain and wanted a car with real character.
Through joining I meet Jim Richardson who was then the Secretary of TORMOG and he helped me with the decision to purchase a 1991 +8.
Other than that we go to the local meets as often as possible and have been on the clubs Le Mans trip so in my opinion the cost of membership is nothing in comparison to the opportunities to meet and learn from more experienced owners.
However I do think the club mag is quite poor but assume they can only print what they are given so maybe it's time for a change there.

I own a Morgan for the fun of driving it. Never felt the need to belong to a club.

Although I've not been an owner for a few years, due to having to be sensible for a while and dump all available funds and time into the business, I stayed a member of the club.

I haven't been along to any meetings since not having a car, but enjoyed reading what was going on in the miscellany and on here.
I actually like the old fashioned style of the Miscellany, I think it suits the cars. I don't think it should try to compete with MOG, I do buy it occasionally but prefer the miscellany. MOG just seem to be trying too hard, I appreciate they have to make money, but it's not for me.

I don't believe many people buy a morgan to be cutting edge, modern or dynamic.
I wouldn't have though many young thrusting high flyers aspire to an outdated Morgan. For a start they're too expensive imho.

Morgan aren't really progressive, they have only started to think they were a proper car manufacturer in the last couple of years leading up to coup!!

Perhaps another pole needs doing looking at the average age of owners, mainly over 50's I'd imagine, middle aged, middle class, middle income or retired, white people. People harking back to better times when AA men saluted and we'd just won a war rather that lost one!!

I noticed that tomorrow is the sixth anniversary of me being a TMer, I think looking at my number of posts it also makes me a bit of a voyeur, as I don't seem to have a lot to say!! Apart from now…………!

I think Hugh is describing just one of those groups.

I think mainly over 60 is closer to the truth, and a majority with beards. White hair or no hair preferable. Many are retired but a significant number are not.
We went to a Yorkshire region weekday lunch a while ago, and the attendance was large - all retired ...........
And all in trads.

I'm more interested in the number of dirty fingernails. I don't get the impression that too many get down and dirty.

Hmmmmm......I'm retired (well apart from my part time job at the factory) grey haired and bearded! My fingernails are often quite grubby though

I'd have thought that your nails are generally at pristine as the undersides of your cars Dave!

Same for me. When I first joined the club it was full of members that got their hands dirty upgrading or repairing. Fine dining and holidays are the prime discussion at my local meetings today.

Or a who does their own servicing / MSCC membership one. We can see who has dirty finger nails and skinned knuckles....

Part of the reason I haven't looked into joining is I really don't get that "Warm cosy feeling" when I have met up in the past with trads. I get the feeling we Aero 8 folk are on the fringe ... but maybe its just me ?
