In 1986 I put down a deposit on a new Morgan. Six years later I drove my Connaught green 4/4 4 seater off the forecourt of Phoenix motors in Woodbury. I had never before driven a Morgan, only sat in one for a few minutes. It's just that I JUST KNEW I WANTED ONE! I did not regret it.
I rolled over my deposit and six years later I drove a new midnight blue Plus Four Rover T16 off the same forecourt. Even better.
In 2005 I collected a new silver Series 1 V6 Roadster from Berrybrook Motors in Exminster. What a car! It is orders of magnitude better. Comfortable, powerful, docile, exciting, fast - the adjectives are endless. The Jaguar engine and gearbox are sublime. It had endless torque yet can be driven quietly and gently or scare the willies off me with the way it will perform.
If you can try one I thorough recommend that you do.

I too had never driven a Morgan until I was driving my 81 4/4 home from ISIS Motors in San Francisco. It was just meant to be, I guess. Certainly learned a lot about that car in the following years. Never a regret. Still sitting in the garage, today. Oh yeah, I have traveled distances with it. It has traversed the US over 5 times, and been up and down both coasts of the US. Not to worry about comfort, only sun burn ...
Cheers,
Mark

Absolute gentlemen - the lot of you. very many thanks and in such short order too! Well if the forum is anything to go on - the car can't be that far behind - in terms of user friendly! Another reason why I fell out of love with the Maserati - the owners forum was full of sycophants and weirdos who posted about once a month! I've had my time with the hyper-cars now and will follow up on some of your kind invitations to come and chat (Helsby!) I believe Oakmere is only new Morgan's is that correct? I do love grunt I'm afraid so the +8 is my entry point. The Roadster is probably a little above the 30k, I believe? As I said earlier, I need the rest of the cash for my other hobby which is Microlites!
Thanks for your time - much appreciated guys and I will be monitoring this site and contacting a couple for a visit.

At £30k + a couple of bags of coal you might be able to squeeze into a very early Aero........ Now that would be something

You have also got Lifes at Southport so not too far away to either. Drive some different models and that will hone what you're looking for. To me, the Morgan is the only car since I started to learn to drive that I just out go out in to drive without a clue of where I'm going to!

...since I started to learn to drive that I just out go out in to drive without a clue of where I'm going to! I used to have a SatNav like that!! Seriously, go and drive a few. It will take a few months, of whichever model you buy, to learn to get the best from it... Good luck, the right car will choose you

Don't test drive one, I hired a plus 4 for the weekend did over 500 miles in it then in very short order ended up getting hypnotised by the spaniels at Williams nr bristol and tried out a few Roadsters.
Being of the sensible economical type where power isn't everything I ended up handing over a deposit that very day for my Roadster.
I didn't have anywhere near enough money so had to find some more...
We now have 3 soft top 2 seater and a boring audi junk carrier.
It makes no sense at all
Hey ho you only live once.
But seriously if you do drive some and you do "get it" be prepared for your brain to be over ruled by you heart.
Other people think I am a bit mad I am not sure that they are not right....

We only went out 'for a look' and ended up buying ours! I got it since I was 12 so it I was a dumb move on our part thinking we could just 'look'! But life is too short....
