Could somebody please explain the full ins and outs (see what I did there?) regarding the 'long door' cars please?

Or failing that, point me in the direct of a good book detailing the changes, advantages, et cetera.

Thanks.

Standard: galvanised chassis, stainless bulkhead and inner wings.
Doors 2" longer (easier ingress/egress).
What may, or depending on reliability, may not be advantageous: electrically heated windscreen.

Lots of other minor changes...

Wasn't there a period in the 90's when long doors were an option but was pre stainless bulkhead? thinking

Long Doors, now standard, came in when airbags had to be fitted in some markets. This meant the dash had to move further away from the seat. As a result the de-mister vents were no longer possible.

As a result there were changes to the structure of the front of the cockpit that allowed longer doors to make entry and exit easier.

It is all explained here:

4/4

And here:

100 years

Buy them, essential reading!!

It's the GBP2.80 postage that takes the proverbial!

I'd want it and delivered with the courier wearing silk gloves for that!
