Interesting, I was miss-informed and had missed the S3 out, thinking it was the 3.7.

With respect to 3.7 weight MMC quote 950kg which I think is about 30kg heavier than the earlier cars. As for revving, I find that once the revs are around 3000-3500 and loud pedal is pressed it will scream. Below 3.5it is quite relaxed to drive with plenty of torque, if you want to suddenly fly you just drop down to the appropriate gear, press the pedal and hang on.

Nicely put Heinz! I agree about the gear ratios on the S2, not ideal. My engine is still pretty tight at just under 5000 miles. I hasten to add that all but 700 were put on by me in the past year....the previous owner didn't use the car! Williams remapped my car and it was dyno'd at 220 bhp and I suspect it will give a little more as it loosens up. That's with standard exhaust so the wider diameter one of the S3 might explain some of the power increase.
Interesting comment on the front suspension...I must measure my cross frame sometime. With current cars, the Plus4 and 3.7 Roadster share the same cross frame, the 4/4 has a narrower one.

I agree with Heinz, on the S2/Transit box first is really to short and it is very easy to hit the soft rev limiter.
Second is also a bit short, it is easy to pull away in 2nd on the level.

Aldermog's engine has done 25,150 miles and the inside of the engine is still as new, when the oil was changed earlier this year, after 5000 miles, it was clean and gold. I suspect the engine is good for 250K miles...

Having driven an Auto +8 I still think not fitting an auto box to the Roadster was/is a lost opportunity. It would have improved sales for those like me who want to tour, not race!

If I had the choice between an auto 3.7 Roadster and an Auto Plus 8 I'd take the Roadster....

I had a company car ST220 and I absolutely loved that engine and it was a joy to drive doing 83000 miles in 2 years. So although I have never driven a S1, I can only imagine that's it's equally a joy to drive.

Yes it is low. I fitted the Mulfab sump so the grearbox hanger & the bell housing hit early.

Anyonr fitted Librands bluefin ECU remap to an S1?

Not on the 3.7 version.

I have a Brooklands Roadster 3.7 which has done 6500 miles , mostly on the run from north Scotland to Spain last year. The cross member supporting the rear gearbox is the lowest part of the chassis and I have grounded it on numerous occasions . It even grounded coming out of the garage until I built up the gravel to create a ramp. So you will not damage the sump but continuous scraping of this chassis member may well lead to some form of long term damage. I've discussed a bespoke steel plate to protect it with Revolutions , yes it will reduce the ground clearance but protect the gearbox .

Is it not possible to Jack the rear up 1/2 inch or so ?
