When the new +8 was on show at Richard Thorne's, I was the passenger in it when a local racing driver went for a test drive around the Berkshire roads. It's the first time ever that my feet have been forced away from the bulkhead of a car by the accelelation. So if you are lucky enough to be given a trip in an +8 expect the scenary to pass you by as if you were on the StarShip Enterprise.

When I drove the one at Oakmere Open Day it had only just been delivered 4 days previously and had just 50 miles on the clock. Was told to keep it below 4000rpm. Well in 5th gear I found that I was just at about 3700rpm & doing some very crazy speeds so pulled back nono & then realised there was still 6th gear to go at! Didn't half put a grin2 on my face! Also, my cap was attached with a lanyard to the back of my shirt but that was blown off on to the Northwich bypass and everybody else spent the day running over it... laugh2

For those of us with the full fat 4.8, it comes as no surprise with regards to the performance. That engine has the curious ability to feel strong and relaxed at low revs, full of intent at mid-revs - and then absolutely bombastic at higher revs.

It is genuinely supercar quick up to about 120mph - at which point aerodynamics catch up with it.

The way the auto slurs the changes adds to the sensations. I mentioned it before, but a 599 owner who I took out in it was staggered by the performance.
