I took delivery of my 2014 Goodwood Green M3W yesterday after a 6 month wait joy

The M3W had 41 delivery miles on it upon delivery and I understand that S&S recommends oil changes at 50, 350 and 1000 miles.

I plan to do the oil changes myself even though I've never changed the oil in any of my vehicles.

I just read PaulJ's instructions here, which recommend removing the lower of the two pipes supplying the engine from the tank and jacking the car up on one side to tip the oil toward the tank exit. I'm sure I can figure all of this out, but would like to know if anyone has other tips or instructions that have worked for them that a newbie can follow?

Being a new car, Yours has a nut on the tank for changing the oil.
The removal of the pipes at the bottom of the engine has resulted in slow oil leaks because the seal is never perfect again.

I expext Paul wrote his thread for a 2012 car before the oil tanks were changed to incorporating the nut.

A few of us have fitted a small purpose built tap that replaces the nut on the oil tank making this job very easy. I will post a link later when I get home

Q8, do you happen to have the part number of the oil drain valve that you installed?

Congratulations and enjoy!

FOr info, the 50 mile change will have been done before delivery so your first change should be due at 500 miles.

Have I missed something somewhere then, as I understood it the first service is due at 1000 miles, I have been running motorcycles for years and unlike cars they do have an oil change at anywhere between 600 and 1000 miles or 3 months, why would you need to change the oil 3 times below 1000 miles when that's not what the factory recommend. My car is currently at morgan for its first service at 1000 miles, I have not changed the oil before this, however both exhausts have cracked, the front crank oil seal has gone, I have an electrical fault so the indicators don't work and the Bevel box/rear drivetrain has become noisy, In conclusion shouldn't worry too much about the oil mate it wont be a problem :-)
