After 11 years of owning my 1981 4/4 I am considering a full respray. The paint has cracked up and oxidised a bit on the bonnet, I have cracks and small bubbles on the rear panel, the passenger door needs re-skining, and the car is starting to look a little sad.
However, I can't seem to find a body shop that specialises in classic cars. Does this matter? Can I use any old body shop? Does anyone have any recommendations? Preferably in the Hants/Wilts/Berks area - 30 mile radius of Andover.
Oh - and I need it done by the end of March - for a full summer of touring and work.
Thanks

Sarah

They do insurance work for the Malvern factory, have worked on several Morgan's and are currently rebuilding E Type, Lancia, several Porches and specialise in Lotus. www.specialisedpaintwork.com

Phone Alan or Carl (his son, its a family business) 0118 9306 206. There is usually a cup of tea on offer when you visit. smile

carchick smile No, any old bodyshop certainly will not do! Neither will a shop specialising in modern classics, of whatever pedigree. You really ought to go to a top re-furbishment outfit like Melvyn Rutter or BHM. 1981 was in the absolute nadir of Morgan build-quality when a dollop of "blacking" was the order of the day!! I fear a bit more than a re-spray will be found to be required, notably in the woodwork department. Festina Lente and best of luck. smile
