Mmm, I have been considering one myself, just need to get the dosh together first. Let me know, I keep them in stock mate I've seen a new Plus 8 with a roll bar, any idea who make it? Given the way the rear suspension cassette fits into the chassis a roll bar on a Plus 8 might actually be good protection.....until the windscreen collapses.... More to the point, how effective is an airbag in an open car?

I had one fitted to my last car and as already mentioned it firms up the car nicely. Couple of things to watch out for. The rear visibility is slightly impaired, not much, and I had the rear strengthening bar fitted, comes with the kit, which provides additional bracing and also somewhere to attach 4 point harnesses. Rob Wells told me that this isn't really needed for road use as the bar provides sufficient protection without but if you do have this installed it does reduce the size of squashy bags you can fit on the parcel shelf. Had my tonneau altered, took an hour, and very happy with everything. Fortunately never tested its crash worthiness. Not real issues with rear visibility but I can just see the bar in my mirror in the top edge of the field of view. The wing mirrors compensate anyway. I have a Librands mirror - stem type from scuttle to screen top- and it allowed some good adjustment to minimise any intrusion of the bat into the field of view. I haven't fitted the strengthening bar, but may do now to see how it fits in and affects visibility/ space etc.

I understand that a Roll bar is a relevant safety item. But In my view it does not fully match the look of a Trad unless she intended to be a racing car.
To address both needs, keeping traditional shape in combination with an enhanced safety level, could a roll bar be realized to meet the Trads, styled like the ones made for the latest Plus8 Speedster editon? You know, that one which only shows behind both head rests.I could be one of the first orderers.

I was wondering how well a airbag worked with an open car, seems quite well! Bag Fires I'll bet that hurt! Expensive, too.
