1985 4/4 with fiat 1600 TC engine. I'm seriously scratching my head now, I've replaced the coil, distributor cap, electronic ignition module and the lead from distributor to the module ,this has the magnet reluctor which was found to have wiring in poor condition.
It fired up and ran for about a minute then died and wouldn't start again. I have now replaced the module again thinking it may have popped, but no joy not a glimmer of a spark anywhere. All the meter readings seem to be in order according to a Haynes manual I picked up for fiat 132 models. I had very little auto electro knowledge before I started messing around with the initial problem which was intermittent cutting out and starting.

Try a hotwire from a known live [eg fuse box ] to the coil.

If you're a member of the MSCC, under technical services, there is a contact for FIAT engined Morgans, and a contact for electrics and electronics, 1970 to date.

Did the coil originally have a high wattage low resistance balance resistor?

These reduce the 12-14v to about 9v as the coil can't take the full car voltage on some older ignition circuits.

If it is open - no spark if the electronic ignition squirted a full 12v down the coil it may have fried it.

If every thing was like for like then probably not an issue

Any reason you've not mentioned anything to do with fuel.

Sorry to hear about your problem...
I have been in your situation with a car from the same period. After checking everything and changing the essential parts I found a bad connection - a cable had broken, probably due to vibration.
One way of finding such a fault is to ask a pal to 'move' all cables slightly while cranking the engine. Especially all visible connectors.
No rocket science but perhaps worth a try.

Mine is an 1982 CVH 1600, perhaps a different system, anyway...

I had to change my module very recently and had similar symptoms i.e. when the engine was warm it would stop, would not produce a spark, but when allowed to cool (20 mins) run for a minute or 2 then stop. A new electronic module solved my lack of spark.

I wondered did you get any engine life with the new module? Did you put back the original module to verify the engine would run at least for a minute or so?

Hope you get it fixed soon, perhaps the so called new module is not what is seems.
