Having just sold my lovely MG TD, I now have funds to consider upgrading my 1992 4/4 to a newer model: still with around 1600cc probably from 2009 to 2014.
Why ! are you all shouting: well maybe; extra side protection, supple springing, nicer looking interior, better seating.
What are the thoughts of Tmers

I made a similar decision and am happy with the outcome but do not underestimate the differences between Morgan's of different years, I have moved from a 1981 to a 2004 and now a 2014 but if asked which had the most character it would be the 1981 car which I still miss and if I could afford it would have as well as my current car. Objectively it was slower, less comfortable, not as reliable, and needed more work to keep it going but it was brilliant fun. By all means upgrade to a newer model, as I have, but be sure that it suits your needs/wants and don't think that newer is neccasarily better.

I'm with Andrew, while I enjoy the '93, I still miss the '76 and those 8 years of ownership will be impossible to replace...

If you want the full classic motoring experience do as Andrew 255 suggests, something from the 80s, but if you want to drive a classic but forget all the maintenance and servicing do as Gambalungs suggests.
Me? I'm a modernist, I prefer to drive than work on a car.

Having had a number of classic (mostly Porsches) and having built a number of kit cars I am loving my honeymoon with my new 4/4 sigma.
I was looking to have an aluminium bodied replica built and asked for quotes from a number of well respected companies...they all came in at about 40,000 pounds + 6-9 months lead time....one even suggested looking at Morgan.
Much less than 40,000 pounds,traditional looks with modern bullet proof running gear,excellent drivability,fantastic mpg,relativly rare,with enough character + quirks for personal fettling and updating...what's not to like !!!!
You will not regret it.
