It wouldn't fit down those Devon lanes very well Richard....., and you never know who might be coming the other way! A good job I'm only dreaming Dave - you know what happened to the Sport, I reckon he could drive right over the top of the F40.... Relating to the other thread, GT40, 917, F40 would be alongside my +8 if I won the lottery but seeing as though I never do it is highly unlikely. No.1 Daughter worked out the odds when she was doing "A" level maths and at that time you were 10,000 times more likely to win the Football Pools. Boring but gambling is not for me other than a Charity Raffle.

I remember when the national lottery was being debated in the House of Lords, Jock Bruce-Gardyne rose to say "Surely my Lords, this proposed National Lottery is just a tax on people who are bad at maths". He was spot on (of course) but I confess that I do buy a ticket every now and again - worth it just for the pleasure of daydreaming about what I'd do with all the cash if I were to win.

The original Fiat 500 was nicknamed the "Topolino" (small mouse) in Italy. "Topolino" in Italy is the name used for Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse. Alis's father, Duilio, was a Moto Guzzi factory rider and when Fiat were looking for a sporty engine for the Fiat 500 Moto Guzzi built a prototype V twin engine and installed it in a car. Duilio drove it and declared that it was too powerful for the car. It would have required upgraded wheels, suspension and brakes which would have made the car too expensive. Fiat decided to go with Abarth who were already making tuning kits for the standard engine. The rest is history. No one seems to know what happened to the Guzzi Fiat prototype but it was probably destroyed.  The prototype Guzzi engine for the Fiat 500  Sporting the Guzzi test plate.

I just love the vision, madness and creativity of this engineering. A bit like Fords Transit with a mid engined DFV in it that went around the UK racetracks in the early seventies, I saw it at Snetterton and it was mental. None of them probably tractable but like Morgans they make you smile and are good to listen to.

Hi have you looked at the depreciation.
There is one for sale in Harrogate 60 k in the first year.500 miles on clock!
Pal of mine has just sold his testarossa. Cost him just a bit north of 100k new when he bought it and the sale price he got from a dealer ( couldnt be bothered to try and sell privately) was 70k. Cant remember when he bought it but it must be something like 20 years. Doesnt seem like too bad depreciation to me. But a 458 is more than I want to spend. I was thinking more like a 360 or a 430 spyder. Should be able to get a good low mileage one under 80k and I cant see them depreciating all that much. What do you think?

What do you think? I think the 360 is close to bottoming out on price, the 430 a little way to go yet. The 308/328/348/355 are all on the up, particularly for low mileage well spec'd cars. If I had the space I reckon a good Testarossa would be a great investment. I'd definitely recommend you buy from a reputable dealer or get an independent inspection done. If you are serious. PM me and I can give you some ideas. Also, well worth joining the Club Scuderia forum - it's the Ferrari equivalent of TM
