I've been looking at media reports of the new Morgans. Many, particularly of the Plus 8, are not that positive.
One in particular was the 5th Gear report by Jason Plato. He is well known and his expectations of what a modern premium sports car should be are predictable and equally predictable that the Plus 8 would fall far short of his expectations.
In my views you don't buy a Morgan instead of buying, oh, a Porsche Boxster, Jaguar F Type or any other modern car. You buy a Morgan instead of buying a restored classic car.
Unlike a restored/updated classic it has enough modern technology to make it reliable and somewhat safer, it has dealer support and they are supported by a factory that tries hard.
But a Mog is still, really, an updated classic, so to expect anything more of its performance dynamics is foolish.
Yes, it is expensive, but look at the price asked for restored/improved classics such as a MGB, Jaguar E-Type, Austin Healey 3000 and even a 911. Compared with those it is relatively good value!
It also has character and as with all Mogs it has that "Grin Making" capability.
Anyone agree/disagree?

You can be happy that after the fist hype only few Threewheeler reports are in the media nowadays.  I like my 3W, but others could argue that only fools purchase an overpriced piece of poor technology with limited durability. As long it's not in the news, others don't know.

There is only a limited amount of objectivity that a journalist can put into a road test- before opinion creeps in.
At that point - it's just that- opinion based on........
In my opinion the Morgan is the best fun I can have on 4 wheels!
Of course, everyone has an opinion on what " fun" is too.

In my opinion the Morgan is the best fun I can have on 4 wheels!
 In my opinion a Morgan is a Morgan, a Porsche is a Porsche and so on, all cars are basically the same 4 or 3 wheels a body, engine, gearbox of sorts, seat and steering wheel. How they look, perform, drive and feel is what is different. Just like cars we are all different, so some hate cars, others love them, others are indifferent, but some people are similar and love Morgans. Does this make a Morgan better than another car, probably not just different. Is another persons opinion of a Morgan important, probably not, if you like a Morgan then it's the right car for you, whatever others think. Simples!

The journo's at Evo seem to like Mog's , and they have had quite a few on test ,Henry Catchpole liked the 4/4 anni with 2l duratec very much and drove it with the roof off all the time for months ! He tested the speedster about two months ago and loved it ( who ever doesn't must have very serious depression ! ) So I am still keeping my Evo sub ! They did a test with the 3w v caterham 7 120 bhp version and had permanent grin factor and they tested the v6 which seemed to be very well liked , so I'm happy with their comments so far !

I did not buy my Morgan because it's a more modern classic, I did not buy it because it's more reliable, I certainly did not buy it because of what any journalist wrote. I bought it because I wanted it, had done for a number of years and I thought back then that it might be fun. That was why I bought the first one, what made me buy another was the totally unexpected welcome and friendship of fellow Morgan owners, the sheer joy of driving the thing and the way that no matter how bad a week I had just had (working long hours and all over the place in those days) I could feel the stress bleed out of me as the miles racked up. I pay the same attention to what others from outside the ownership circle think about the cars as I do to those that say we should all be driving around in 100 MPG soulless (in my opinion) mundanemobiles. If that's what they want fine but leave me to enjoy my choices.
I don't justify my choice of car to anyone and as my favourite T shirts used to say back when I rode a Harley "If I had to explain you wouldn't understand"....A Morgan is bigger than just a car regardless of how many wheels or cylinders.

Totally agree with you - it's about the driving "experience" and nothing to do with what some two bit journo or ex BTCC thinks of it. They are all beyond the real world. If other peoples opinion bothers you don't buy one these, they are for individuals exercising their choice against the flow of mainstream mediocrity Poxter e.g. It's probably known as stubborn Brittishness !!!
