I suspect that most owners are relatively happy with the current power output, which probably suits the majority of needs.

Anything is possible as long as you have deep pockets and are prepared to loose some tractability for the sake of outright power. Anything over 200 bhp, then changes to internal components are requiresd as there relliability is bought into question.

It's a fair point and I love the roadster and I may go that route. It just feels like a big miss to put out a car with a new engine with so much unrealised potential. The 4/4 is a great entry level Mog so why not given the plus 4 a bit more power straight out of the box?

I must say that since my 4/4 comes alive, driven 7.000 km until now (1.200km by myself), I'm astonished how good the engine pulls even in the lower region from 2K or 2.5K rpm on, at least when driving without copilot. You never would imagine to be underway with less than half of the power a Roadster deliveres. The 4/4 just adds lightness.

In my view the Plus 4 has a more allround cruising orientated charakter and could deserve (perhaps) some more horses (not too much, ca 170 hp) to compensate her higher weight in comparison with the 4/4. But Plus 4 should continue to be positioned as a relaxed car, not quite so sporty or nimble as a 4/4 but with some reserves of power if needed.

Given that you can take the 3.0 v6 duratec to around 500 bhp with some work it doesn't surprise me the 2.0 litres can be elevated so high.

What can the Mazda's box take? It couldn't take the 230 bhp of the standard v6.

By the time you've done all the work modifying the standard plus4 what additional costs are you looking at?

Maybe look into another model seriously?

Maybe one of the factory sports models or if liking creature comforts like a windscreen then the 3.7 v6.

Or are you a person who likes to push whatever the standard is on offer even higher? I know some folks love to just how far you can take things.

My Plus four figures. M16 engine. Advanced ignition, reworked Omex 710 (by Omex) s/s manifold straight through one box, ITG filter. No changes to cams, no tb's; worked on by Mark Adams. Fifth gear at 2000rpm =60mph, 3000rpm=80mph.Second good for 72mph,third for 96mph. Step forward chunky for further advice please.

I think you are right and I would like to agree. In my view, generally every Morgan model type is able to be used as a cruiser or as a more sporty tool in standard form And every model can be tweaked to another level.

I would also agree that those who like tp potter around may be orientated on the entry level lower HP model, the 4/4. On the other hand the 4/4 has a nimble potential where the Plus 4 offers a little more a matured nature, which is of course also excellent for driving in a very sporty way.

I'm taking a guess that Chunky is talking about the latest GDi Duratec map, and Robbie has the previous Duratec map?

If you want a GDi to test Chunky, I'm not too far from you........ somestick

Fitting an Omex throttle body kit to your Duratec 2L will give you about 180 hp. If you also fit their fast road cams, which require no engine mods and can be fitted without removing the heads, you can get about 200 hp.

It should be noted that the gain really comes in over 4000 rpm.

I have put up the fitting of the throttle bodies on my blog.

Hi Peter,

I see that you have fitted the long TB's, do these fit under the bonnet or have you had to add a Super Sport scoop on the side?
Also, is there any noticeable reduction in torque at lower revs?
