More Tarka Photos

A couple of photos:

The first is inside the cockit, showing the inner sidescreen trimmed out by Austin at Williams: I discovered that this Plus 8 was one of the last 1 or 2 cars he trimmed before leaving Morgan to move to Williams! I still need to fit my Sat Nav.

The second is our "slimline" leather case: bought from Jays when he changed to Nero it coordinates perfectly with Tarka's colour!

The Third is the new LibrandsDoor Check for the Plus 8: unlike the standard ones it locates over the upper hinge and sits higher up the door, which I think is an improvement. In the kit are supplied new stainless steel set screws to replace all the nasty and probably rusting hinng screws, plus new screws to fill the holes left where the old leather strap once was located.

No, thank goodness!

The number of times I clouted my elbow on the hard, sharp corner causing me pain and bad language made me delighted to see that they were not chrome.

I may get them leather covered, though.

Re door checks- MMC really ought to fit something like this as standard to all trads, the leather strap only prevents the door hitting the body, it does nothing to stop the door smashing into ones leg! Gerry.

I agree 100%.

BUT they might not be able to do so because the car wasn't homologated with them in place. If fitting them to new cars means re-homologation then it makes no economic sense.

Peter, I thought in the UK one could have and hold their own "bespoke" license plates. So why didn't you keep your Aldermog "april plate"??

One can, but the exchange process isn't instant!
I'm waiting for the requisite documents to come through from the licenicng authority.
This is the the multi step process, unless you own both vehicles when it is a bit quicker..!
1. Apply to "retain" the licence plate. £105.00
2. Receive the "Retention Certificate"
3. Receive the Vehicle Registration Document showing the "original" registration plate
4. Now you can sell the vehicle
5. Buy your new vehicle, apply for the Vehicle Registration Document to arrive in your name
6. Return the Vehicle Registration Document with the Retention Certificate
7. Receive the new Vehicle Registration Document with your Personal Registration
8. Go out and buy the new Registration plate showing the Personal plate.

Total time: 2 to 3 weeks....!
I'm waiting for step 5 to complete...yawn

So I understand that it's quite bureaucratic, but I also had this feeling that you would try to keep the plate with now Tarka!

Its not chrome, but polished aluminium....or stainless steel, I'm not sure.
The screws are all Allen head countersunk. A nice bit of detailing: there are many on the Plus 8

Excellent!

The car is very much quieter than the Roadster, at 60mph on a reasonable road the only noise is from the tyres and wind. There is acoustic insulation material under the carpets and all over the front bulkhead.

Also it has 6 speakers:
2 in the foot-well,
2 dash mounted tweeters
2 large elliptical units behind the seats.

I transferred over the Alpine DAB head unit and DAB/FM splitter and the result is excellent.
Another benefit is that radio head unit sits closer to the gear lever, because the hand brake lever is in the "conventional" position. So you can see and operate the radio whilst driving....
