Ones a bent piece of metal....the other is a properly engineered solution that will not allow the bonnet to blow shut in a gust of wind.

Exactly!

Even those with full bumpers?

I think so, but would like to see one fitted, it might be somewhat invisible.
BUT there are a couple of reports that the fitting of this part helps with high speed stability. So it might be worth it...if you drive at much ober 60mph/100kph!

I am pretty sure it makes for a more stable and less twitchy feel over 60mph especially in windy conditions. I certainly have noticed it since fitting my valance from Cain.
