Ok! I don't know until what date that was compiled to (1,137 for this year) but the total from that compilation is 46,444. My guess, tongue in cheek, of 49845 was not so far out englandwave

PS. I just have to wait another couple of years or so. I wonder if they will do something special for the 50,000th car to be produced?

Tks Robmog88
Yes Ive seen that but it may be unreliable, for instance in 2008 it says no trad cars were made and many other dates also seem to have zero entries and inaccurate figures.

Yes I noticed. Also it seems strange that there are no three wheelers listed between the end of the war and 1952.

I dont have F4 Trike Production numbers but F Super Trike Production was about 130 cars. Per MTWC.
1946 - 1947 = 30 Cars (Approximate) 1948 - 1952 = 99 Cars

Cheers,

Tks great info, when I'm bored over Christmas I'll try to answer my own questions. Now over to the factory for a tour and inspect a fantastic Lazuli blue +4 on build, hopefully ready for my wife's Christmas present (though we did promise to only spend £20 on each other this year!) I wonder what £20 would buy in Morgan terms......

Keith - looked at this site the other day and also to the data sets available from DVLA in vehicle registrations in the UK from 1909 to date (latest 2013) available in Table VEH0122 from https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/veh01-vehicles-registered-for-the-first-time

It appears that there are some mistakes during registration process (some Morgans registered as 'LGVs' or 'Other' rather than 'Cars' or 'Motorcycles' - none appear as HGVs or Buses though!). But a quick analysis/correction of data to give a total shows that the total for all Morgans registered in the UK 1909-2013 seems to be 5,979 (assuming I've understood the spreadsheet correctly). This seems to tie in with the 6,866 number you found - difference possibly due to some brought back from overseas and few scrapped (thankfully!)?

The best I could derive by model breakdown is:

4/4 - 1892
AERO SUPERSPORTS - 4
AERO SUPERSPORTS AUTO - 25
AEROMAX COUPE - 13
AERO 8 - 120
Missing (assumed no model given?) - 2232
PLUS FOUR - 614
PLUS 8 - 613
ROADSTER - 343
SUPER SPORTS - 123

Assuming an average 50% are shipped overseas during the whole of this period, then total production by the factory 1909 - 2013 would be in the region of 12,000 vehicles. This 'feels' about right to me but if anyone has a better average % export figure (or better still, %export for each year) then this figure can be refined.

But your point that they are pretty rare is a good one and, for such a small production, credit needs to go to MMC for getting 'the brand' so well known.

12K seems way too low. For a company in business over a 100 years that would result in an average of only 120 per year.

Not sure I know of a year when that few cars would have been made, and several of the older marque books report on some early three wheeler years where over a thousand cars per year were produced. The MMC has made some 1500 M3Ws since 2011. That is in only 4 years of production.

So I think we best approach it using other sources than the DVLA.

Cheers,

Mark

I took a look at few documents I had handy for production numbers. These are only estimates but close.

Series 1 Production = 2000
DHC Production = 767
Aero Production = 994
Rover Engined Plus 8 Production = 6000
F Super Production = 180
Plus 4 Production 4584 (Subtract DHC overlap)= 4500

Just these total some 14441. And, it doesnt address most Three Wheelers, the New M3W, the Series 2-5 4/4s, the New Plus 8s. The Roadsters, etc.

Cheers,

Mark
