So true, my old Mum, now 99, has recently moved into a private care home, one of the cheaper ones at £750 per week, and I have recently 'loaned' my son some money for the deposit on his home, and my daughter will need another car soon, and her husband isn't working..........

No wonder I can't afford to retire yet and try some of these funny activities!

All I can say is that if my children expect an inheritance they had better forget it. What with taxes and the every increasing cost of living and health care there won't be anything left.

I've joined the ski club. Spend the Kids Inheritance.

Fortunately no children so I can spend the lot without upsetting anybody :santahohoho:

My mothers care home costs came to nearly forty grand for three years, in addition she had been paying a third of the costs from her pension, we (my sis and I ) had to pay it back after she died and the house was sold.
However, I can't think of any alternative way she could have spent her last years, I realise that council care these days is costly and I guess in the troubled times we live in there aren't many alternatives.

In Australia, " over 55 " villages are becoming more and more popular. The costs vary for nearly every one. You have to buy the accomodation and then what you pay varies as does what is included ( electricity, water, phone, gardening and maintenance). When you check out, then there are also large costs to pay before you get any money back. Very difficult to make a profit.

I wonder if there would be a market for a Morgan Pensioners Village?

Along with the usual facilities would be a heated car barn and communal workshop with a hoist and pit.

But we would all fall in the pit and not be able to get out! probably have to spend the last days looking up at a Mog

Taff mog are working buying a ferry /cruise ship to travel the world when we cant drive any more. We can sit in the MORGANS and dream of times gone by.
