My 1969 4/4 is in need of some touch-up paint work. The car is Golden Yellow. The original paint code for this colour in 1969 was I.C.I. P030.456. Is there a way to translate this number into a modern equivalent for this paint?

There is someone on this forum who is a paint expert , I hope he will chip in before too long.
Failing that, modern measuring instruments can very accurately assess the exact make up of the colour , by giving the amount of the 3 basic shades (cyan , magenta and ? yellow) present in that particular colour. This will enable an automotive paint supplier to mix up an exact match for you. (Remember that paint will look darker when wet in the can , as opposed to the dried pain film on the car)

Dean is your man. But any good paint shop should have a Xrite or similar tool to colour match the shade, we do it all the time for ink

Brent as i have previously mentioned ICI use their own coding, in the hope of exclusivity on Paint sales, the coding cannot be inigmated, however as JOHN V6 rightly suggests the use of a Spectrometer will find the colour. To reiterate, anyone who discovers the true colour of their Morgan passes the information to us we will develop a Morgan coding for it and have the General Paint S.A.L Co Factory add this information to the data base. PS the standard Golden Yellow is a British Standard Colour BS 381C 356 However there are several manufaturers using the name GOLDEN YELLOW

Many years ago I had a golden yellow 1969 4 seater 4/4.At that time it was a standard morgan colour. After much searching for touch up paint,i found that that it was dulux coach paint. At that time morgan only used dulux for their base colours. Might be of some help.PS same colour as most gritting lorries in UK.

Nothing from Morgan is a as Morgan do not produce any colour, they take reference from Manufacturers Library and allow the Customer to choose a specific colour from that manufacturer, ie Jaguar-Rolls-Bentley etc etc
.PS same colour as most gritting lorries in UK.

All of the replies have been very helpful and much appreciated. I am aware that not all Golden Yellows are created equal.
I am quite happy with the version on my car and I have come to the conclusion, as has been suggested, to rely on modern technology to replicate it rather than find myself adrift in a sea of paint codes.
