There is insufficient market for an Aero based car at 3k units per year. And I suspect that it would be a challenge even with foreign market penetration. In this month's Mog Mag they said that more M3W's were sold in (from memory) three years than Aero based models in 13 years. Obviously we don't know the unit profit, but production 'numbers' don't go with the Aero model, it's a niche product. IMO it would have sold better as a full convertible (S4 style) than the targa supersport and then the closed coupe. The Max was a spectacular and successful one off design, but generally buyers go to Morgan for a convertible.

I agree from a customer view the s4 should have been retained however, after the success of the aeromax I think Morgan saw it as a way to significantly increase the price they got for the aero chassis. Problem was the recession hit a pretty much the same time.

The problem with your vision Peter, is that the factory could not produce 3000 cars a year without a massive investment or indeed a new factory. And that would be the end of Morgan as we know it. John, I know this. A classic "Catch 22" dillema. Success would destroy them. Failure can also destry them. I don't have an answer, other to ask the question "would the end of Morgan as we know them be better than the failure of Morgan as it now is?"

Or leave them alone to what they do best, make steady production of fairly priced sports cars, and stay away from the over priced EXOTICA.
