Father Christmas :santa3: very generously gave me a 24hr hire of a three wheeler from Allon Whites. Now I've long wanted to drive a three wheeler and I'm sure I will love it but........... I also know I am easily lead and the next step may well be a deposit on a new one to go with my 4/4.

Do any of you know of a reliable vaccine to guard against this eventuality and the consequential deleterious impact on personal bank accounts? All suggestions are welcomed.

Enjoy the drive and look upon it as a brief encounter rather than a long term commitment!

Make hiring it a regular occurrence say 3 times a year cheaper and something to look forward to! Or purchase with 3 others and agree to have it for one third of a year. However need to pick the other part owners carefully!

No chance when they get their act working.
Joint ownership is not a bad idea too, as per syndicates with small aircraft.
If you get the right people it's easier, but need good agreement re shared time/ costs etc and especially member changes.

Unless you intend to use it a lot hiring may be a much cheaper option than ownership. As far as I can see the outlay is huge and the actual cost of ownership (insurance, tax, service, repairs, fixes) would seem to be quite high particularly if you take re-sale value into consideration.

Best option for buying would be to wait until late Autumn 2015 and buy a 2014 or 2015 build that someone has decided to move on.

Why don't you do the same mistake I did and just get one.

Its 100% fun, 30% disappointment, 20% positive surprise when something unexpectedly still works, a surplus of an other 50% for the excellent beauty and show effect.

So if you add up all the % you end up at 200% while the bank pays less than 3%..
Easy calculation with one or two minor mistakes, but all in all you have to get the stupid toy for you!

Two ways to look at this....

With you head you have to conclude it is not a reliable sensible drive as it is flawed, may be unreliable and will let you down at some point. The support from dealers is reluctant as Morgan don't allow enough hours to do the work. My "dogged" dealer would prefer not to sell me one (see later).

With you heart you will want to ignore your head, seduced by the character, the experience and the sheer magic of the M3W. I was hooked. As an ex biker it is about as close to a bike as I could ask.

I still want one. I think 's cunning plan in agreeing to the Plus 8 was to ensure I couldn't get a M3W to go with the Roadster. Now, after buying the Plus 8 we are skint... No chance of getting a M3W...for now.

Seriously, view it like a classic bike, it needs attention and my leave you stranded but every ride will be unfettled joy. But only buy one if you really, realy want it!

Get one of these, as close and as fast to the motorbike as you could get.
