The Avon ZV5 tyres currently fitted as O.E. by Morgan are asymmetric.

I had Avons on my +4 for 7 years with no issue.
Why not buy some painted wires and have summer & winter sets?

I definitely don't want 2 sets of wheels and tires. I am a bit of a car junkie and have several of cars to drive depending on weather and mood. I really jstbwant to be able to drive the Morgan at or around freezing temps without issues if possible. There may be some summer tires that are just OK and loose partial performance below freezing and that would be fine with me.
I always thought the temperatures in England were were close to "New England" where I Live in the Northeast US?

We get odd days below 0 c. In a bad winter it can be -25c.
I would say your winter is colder.
Anyway if you just drive around freezing occaisonally I wouldn't worry. Most people in the UK don't have 2 sets of tyres.
I do on my Merc as:-
1. it is dermot in snow & ice otherwise
2. I lived in Bavaria for 4 years & there you need winter tyres , so I understand the big difference they make.
Tyres in the EU now must comewith ratings for noise & wet wether perfromance. Toyos are poor in the wet. I chose Dunlops as they had the lowest noise level and the best wet perfromance. I dont race the Roadster & my logic is the biggest risk is losing the back end in the wet.

You have recalled correctly Neil, you brain is still working even if you can't remeber what you drive. As it was you who told me, how comes the Avon ZV5s fitted on my car are asymmetrical ?  Thanks Don fro pointing that out, I hadn't noticed. Neil

I was in N Wales way back in thee 80s when it hit -25. 2983 I think from memory. It was 1981 and the lowest recorded temperature was -25.2c at RAF Shawbury which is not that far away. I remember it well, as I was on shift at the Madley Satellite Earth Station (Hereford) and it froze the diesel lines to the standby generators. Neil
