Thank you all for your best wishes.
I am pleased to say that the arse has been tracked down and has accepted responsibility. After the CCTV footage, we just had a name (thanks to the brilliant pub owner's identification) and a mobile number. After no response to calls and texts, a bit of homework on the web, tracking down a former business partner, identifying a village where he lives and then some info from the Worcestershire farming Mafia tracked down the little greasy spoon.
The Police were very helpful as were Morgan Insurance (Headley) and Hiscox. Annie at the Talbot was brilliant (if you haven't been there it is simply the best pub in the world).
And Steve Morris at Morgan was fantastic. At which other car company in the world would you get an email from the MD expressing his outrage at what the arse had done and offering his help next week to get things fixed? Bloody marvellous.
Having watched Molly being built everyday during the process in 2007, and looking after her well ever since, including two life enhancing trips this year, it is really galling that her bodywork has been violated and now needs repairing. But at least the arse will being paying not me.

Violating a Morgan...
Should be considered a criminal act, punished by a minimum of 2 years sweeping the floor out at MMC.

Great result Biffo. Last year some git hit my Focus in a public car park. No note/ witnesses/CCTV. £1000+ damage sorted via insurance(- mine ) I worked a our police pops room at the time and used to get lots of calls re these types of RTC. As no evidence then I had to bite the bullet unfortunately. From experience there are far too many fail to stop incidents these days. People moan about the widespread CCTV use but it can be brilliant in most cases. It often shows the perps going to check what damage they have done then just drive off. In some cases we were able to link seemingly unrelated incidents reported to us and trace the perps. This gave us all great satisfaction.

Great news.
But, I can't help thinking... Wouldn't it have been refreshing for our law enforcement gentlemen (and ladies) to have taken responsibility for the work required to track the little git down..... Or am I wrong in thinking that the police should be gainfully employed like that?
Fantastic response from MMC!!

Good to hear you got the B****rd. He had probably had a pint too many and was afraid of a DUI charge.
I really felt for you because I have had two of those incidents without ever finding the culprit (not with the Morgan, thank goodness).
We did however have a win with a SUV driver who left only a phone number after knocking over my daughters motorcycle, only because she was seen by a shop owner. When contacted she refused to pay as she said she could not possibly have caused so much damage. We eventually got her address through a friend that worked for the telephone company (not exactly legal) and hit her with a small debts summons. Only after that did she get her insurance involved and they paid within days.
