The battery on my Aeromax dies after a few day when not used, which is an annoyance

I started it with cables and a spare battery, but I am not too sure this is safe for the electronic

I guess, the loom is similar to the Aero 8, and I wonder if any of you has fitted a masterswitch to avoid the issue

If so, I would be grateful to see how you routed the cable,(Especially pass the scuttle) and where you located the switch

I may use one of the switch I still have somewhee in the garage and do it during the Christmas break

Is it possible to have such a switch when you have a anti-carjack system/tracker system installed? I think most Aero's have these systems fitted.

These are already in the loom... look to the front of the Fuse box.

Yes, I have seen that switch, but I was thinking of something located in the car, so that I wouldn t need to open the bonnet everytime

Losing charge that quickly would suggest some underlying problem, have you checked the battery to make sure its not duff.

I had the same occur on an Audi a few years back, driven every day for the first 5 days left for one day and flat. Turned out to be a faulty radio.
Lesson Don't buy an Audi

Some earlier posters have reported problems with the aero but I don't believe discharge was occuring in such a short space of time.

The solution is fairly simple, drive the car every day. If you can't manage that PM me your address and I'll do it for you. :snowgrin:

But seriously Aeromax, you must have a fault somewhere as I have left my Aero 8's (similar electricals) at times for about 3-months without the battery discharging, and I think the only 'draw' on the battery is the clock, unless you have had some other anti-theft device fitted. Personally, I would have a word with Mark Baldwin at the factory about the problem, before taking any precipitate action. :snowgrin:

hi Aeromax, I had a similar problem before on my Aero, the battery lasted a bit longer(two weeks), eventually found the boot light was incorrectly wired, therefore the light was on all the time!
May sound obvious, have you check for inteior/boot light? Also have you a hi-fi system with amp in yours? The amp might not be installed/wired properly, it could still be "ON" even the ignition's off!

I had a similar problem with my Range Rover. If left un-driven for 2 days the battery would be flat. The cause of the problem was the signal from an external sensor for a weather station. When the car is locked the ECU checks that all circuits are inactive and then it enters sleep mode. Every time the weather station sensor emitted a signal the ECU would wake up and cause a drain on the battery. Moving the external sensor out of range of the car solved the problem.

First check the battery

Check the charging system

Then start looking for a current draw, should be around 0.03 amps @ rest, ign. off for over 20 mins is the best time to take a reading at rest, as you can be sure all the systems are shut down.

If you have a current draw over 0.03 amps then it's a case of illimination, the easy way is pull the fuses one by one, until the current draw is eliminated, start with things like boot lights and radios and any aftermarket extras fitted Bluetooth, sat nav, alarm ect. if it's still there maybe a fault in the altenator, short in the engine ecu.

but it's a new car get a dealer to fix it !

I am surprised by the battery size, which looks small. I didn t check the Amp but would guess it is of similar size to the Banner in my Caterham CSR. So I tought it could be an under dimensioned battery issue

So my starting point was that it might be a case of TADTS

I will take the multimeter out tomorrow and give it a look.

The car is due for maintenance early Jan, but if the problem is an easy fix, I will sort it as I am hols during the next weeks and would like to drive the thing!
